Nebraska

Nebraska is best known for its wide prairies and sweeping Sandhills, a quietly stunning stretch of the Great Plains and pioneer history. Families and solo travelers find big skies, accessible wildlife, and friendly towns, offering relaxed road trips, outdoor adventures, and cultural stops.

Top highlights are the Sandhill crane migration on the Platte River and Oregon Trail landmarks like Chimney Rock and Scotts Bluff. Don’t miss the crane spectacle at Kearney. Stay in Omaha for its zoo and riverfront, Lincoln for museums and dining, and Kearney for wildlife and access.

Location was excellent, short walking distance to,wherever I needed to go. Historic building, but still well appointed with large suites, elevator, “ old world” feeling with the decor. Good breakfast every morning. Staff friendly and helpful

This is an older L- shaped, two story facility. However, ownership has done a fantastic job of updating it!. Exterior is like new. The rooms are very nicely updated. Comfortable beds, new carpet etc.

Paying 40 dollars for a room I had low expectations. After I arrived I was surprised, this looked and felt like something I would’ve expected to pay 80 dollars for. Great staff and very clean.

We visited downtown Omaha - Old Market District.
Omaha

We visited downtown Omaha - Old Market District. The park was great for younger kids. We walked down the brick streets and found many restaurants and shops to browse in. We ate at Spaghetti House, which was busy, but the food was decent, and the service was quick. The second day, we attended the Henry Doorly Zoo. It was incredibly crowded but, overall, a fun visit. The animals were beautiful and seemed to be well cared for.

Lincoln

Enjoyed Sunken Gardens, Museum for Natural History, Nebraska State Capital Building and Sheldon Museum of Art. The Bierhaus Maisschäler was outstanding for German Beers and great sausage plate. Vincenzo's was great as well. If you're a car enthusiast, do not miss the Museum of American Speed. It was fantastic!

North Platte

picked up some needed items for a gift and wrapping at Walmart and Dollar tree. We were just passing through Nebraska on a trip to see family. Needed a place to sleep for one night, Husker Inn was great. Neighborhood felt safe and we took a walk to stretch our legs, well kept community. Easy to navigate. Will try to stay again next trip.

Kearney

Great little town in Central Nebraska. They manage to pack a lot of stuff into thw place. Has big.box stores along side mom and pop businesses. There are plenty of outdoor activities during the warm months. I like it.

Grand Island has changed significantly since I left in 1991.
Grand Island

Grand Island has changed significantly since I left in 1991. What used to feel like a smaller town has grown into what I would now consider a large city, with more to offer for individuals and families of all ages. With that growth has come more diversity, more activity, and unfortunately, some of the challenges that come with a larger population. On this visit, I noticed things I never saw growing up here, including homelessness and more people out late at night. The city feels busier, and not always in the same safe, quiet way I remember. While it still has a lot going for it, it no longer feels like the same place I once thought of as ideal for raising a family. I still care about Grand Island and enjoy visiting, but my perspective has shifted. If my kids were choosing where to live, I’d probably recommend a nearby rural community with a commute into one of the tri-cities instead.

Ogallala

You can see location from I80, 5 minute checkin. clean restfull, quiet, back on road at 5am. Works great. Have taken trip from Illinois to Idaho 20 times and Ogallala is 1/2 way. We drive 2 twelve hour days. Don't loose time. lots and lots of places to eat within two or three minutes from hotel or you can walk to many. Great price, reserve ahead or they may be full. One of last good places before I80 turns north to Cheyanne, Salt Lake and Boise. We use Bookings.com and have had no problems on over 20 stays in Ogallala, NB. We book and no worries ever. Ed

Gering

I only visit Gering to see my sister, who lives there, and to go to the cemetery where my parents are buried. Gering and Scottsbluff have virtually nothing to see or do there, other than the Scottsbluff Monument and the hills.

The room I booked was not transferred to the hotel,...
Bellevue

The room I booked was not transferred to the hotel, according to the manager on duty on 12/23. Then she (who was not very professional at all) had to change my room and did not tell me that the price for the King would not transfer to the first room that was booked incorrectly was a 2 queen room that was way more expensive than the King. The most irritating thing about this visit was that on 12/22 ( I was in my room before the notice came out )sometime after 9pm they put out a notice that the breakfast, lunch and dinner would be suspended for Christmas Eve and Christmas day, so no food or drink - just coffee in the bar. - Ridiculous that we were not told ahead of time. I did speak to the manager when I left the property, but he said all the mix up was your fault andthere was nothing he could do about it. I won't go back - my daughter and grandchilden live in Bellevue and I go there at least 4 times a year....a lot of lost revenue.

Omaha

Very charming place; great amenities; the deck is wonderful; nice fenced back yard for littles to play; walking distance to Old Elkhorn which as a winery, brewery and coffee shop; also close to Interstate; easy access; parking on site; host is very kind and accommodating; we visited family in Elkhorn so the location was perfect, but it is also close to several restaurants/bars in the West Omaha area.
