Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Hong KongThe hostel is situated on a hill, about 20 minutes from the train station. While not clearly advertised, there is a bus (Red Line) that runs between the train station and up the hill only in the evening, around 6-7pm. However, it's very crowded, though it can save you the effort of carrying heavy luggage uphill. There are no common kitchen facilities for you to cook, but a kettle, a microwave, and a fridge available in the cafeteria. The Wi-Fi in the room is a bit weak.
Nice view of Matterhorn from the room. The only budget option available in Zermatt. Breakfast included.

New ZealandA little hike up a few stairs to get to the hostel can be hard with heavy packs. We arrived too late in the day to book dinner and weren't aware of there being a cut-off time of 4pm
Loved that we got a view of the Matterhorn and the room was warm and comfortable. Breakfast was nice and the staff were efficient and friendly. Liked that we were able to store our luggage after check-out

New ZealandThere is no allocation of specific beds to request. Their roofs hung super low, and i found it difficult to get up to the top bunk with being shorter. But I managed to snag a bottom bunk the second night, so it wasn't a major.
Great staff. Beds comfy. Rooms and fascilities nice. Including lockers on bottom floor for luggage. Good location, around 15 min on incline.

United KingdomMaybe the bathroom are a bit tiny, and not as spot on compared to other swiss places, but overall they were nice
Breakfast was really good ! very fullfilling for such an expensive place like Zermatt ! also the location was amazing, the room had an insane view of the Matterhorn, as the building is located in a high up hill, 5 min from the center of the town

United KingdomUnfortunately we were told dinner was available but this wasn’t the case. Not a huge thing but disappointing on arrival. It would be great to be able to open the window at night - our room was next to a pathway and there was no window lock. However, staff were helpful, bed comfortable, breakfast great. Thank you

United StatesOne inconvenience during my stay was that the unfriendly receptionist hindered my trip. We originally booked 2 nights and booked 2 more nights because we liked the area, the accommodation, and the accommodation with a view of the Matterhorn. The accommodation originally provided one towel for each stay, but they were considerate and decided to give us one extra after 2 days. When I went to get it after 2 days for getting new towels and they said they couldn't give it to me every day because my wife took it yesterday, and they talked to me with an annoyed expression and voice as if they were harassing me. However, we took the Glacier Express the day before, so we were not at the accommodation from 7 AM to 11 PM. Therefore, I didn't have time to pick up the towels and my wife had never picked them up either, so I tried to explain, but a woman with glasses who seemed to be the manager said ANYWAY, they would do it this time but I had to pay extra for next week, and handed me a towel. It was really embarrassing and I may be thinking too much, but I felt that they had a bad self conviction about Asians and were rationalizing it. As an Asian living in the US, I felt racial discrimination for the first time in Switzerland, and even while checking out today, she avoided my eyes and kept making a seriously unpleasant expression. I wish that accommodations like this, which deal with many international travelers, would be a little kinder and leave only happy memories for travelers.
I was able to have a wonderful second trip to Switzerland while staying at this hostel for 4 nights. Almost everything was satisfactory for the price, including the accommodation and breakfast, and I was able to stay comfortably.

AustraliaThe check-in time was very strict (even when I asked 10 mins before the time) but the next day when I was basking in the sun at the entrance,I noticed a different receptionist checking people in up to an hour before check-in. There needs to be some consistency. The dryer doesn’t work at all, as I attempted to dry a load of clothes for 2 hours and 10 francs with it still being soaking wet. Lucky when I complained, I was given the opportunity to use the commercial dryer. This should be communicated with a sign. Dinner was an option to purchase but overpriced - it’s a hostel so many people are on a budget. I wish I could have eaten there. 2 of my 3 nights I shared a room with all men. I questioned if it were mixed and I was assured it was. It was a little uncomfortable sharing one toilet and one shower with 5 men.
The property is directly located in Zermatt (a little walk from the train) with lots of things to do right nearby. I arrived early and was able to do a load of laundry while I waited. The included breakfast was a bonus and I enjoyed having access to a fridge and microwave for dinner.

SwitzerlandHowever, an issue with the buffet style breakfast is that a lot of guests are coughing, sneezing, blowing their noses very close to the exposed food. This is not a fault of the Hostel but quite off-putting when you are coming to the breakfast area to eat.
Breakfast is decent, great coffee.
