If we had to mention any small critiques, it would be that a few of the stairs looked a bit worn and made me a little nervous (as someone on the heavier side), and the couch in our unit showed signs of being well-loved over time (maybe a new cover?). That said, these were very minor observations and didn’t detract from the overall experience.

Our stay at Castaway Resort was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The location is stunning, with the beach - definitely the highlight was just steps away from both the restaurant and the accommodation. The swimming pool was great too for relaxing in between exploring the island. The staff were friendly and very helpful with confirming some of our activities. Between the three of us—who can be a hard group to impress—Castaway still managed to deliver a wonderful stay. Breakfast - Thankyou.

The beach is pretty rocky, with a noticeable current. Dogs barking in the night did disturb me a few times while trying to sleep.

I had a studio with an ocean view, which was great. It was attractively decorated and comfortable. The breakfast basket suited me just fine.

Over all the resort is becoming dated and old style but what we wanted

The position was perfect for sunsets the breakfast was ok and the room was good clean and bright.

the curtain didn’t fully close so if we were getting dressed we had to be super careful where we stood

they let us check in early which was helpful, the breakfast had variety, easy to make friends with others in the resort, and the beach

Excellent place to stay! Very comfortable and clean rooms, in a quiet location. The beach bar is open in the afternoons, a great place for drinks and dinner, with a wonderful staff.

A few things in need of repair. Wood blocks holding up the couch and bbq. Sewerage smell from the septic tank.

The beach house was nice and private and only a few doorsteps from the beach and bar. Plenty of room, large fridge and kitchen.

We loved our stay at Castaway Resort. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The beach was beautiful to sit and watch a sunset from the bar / restaurant. We stayed in the 2-bedroom apartment and the stairs were a little bit of a worry with the suitcases but apart from that it was great.

Not the best beach for swimming but Rarotonga island is small enough it’s not difficult to find a fabulous beach nearby.

Small resort style property with restaurant and bar. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food was good. Bus stop outside the door. Walkable to ATM , dairy and a few other dining options.

The water system turns off at night, so any night-time ablutions cannot be flushed until the system is turned on in the morning.

The location is great, close to town and there's always a bit of excitement at sunset. The continental breakfast provided to the rooms is satisfactory and housekeeping do a great job.

I did not have water for over 12 hours. Breakfast is a basket with bread and cereal in your room and they don’t clean the dishes you use. I thought it was not great value for money option.

The restaurant was good and the staff at restaurant very friendly, especially Minnie!

I was spoilt in Aitutaki where the accommodation provided bikes and facilitated scooter rental (dropped to door!) so I was disappointed the reception staff were less helpful here. The bus outside the door is handy, but bikes or scooters would make it much easier to get around.

The staff in Wilson's were superb. Special mention for the wonderful Minnie.

Parking on street. Couldn't drink tap water, but they did have a free tap to fill your water bottle at the restaurant.

It was a very nice room, just a bit small and no indoor area to eat, but a nice patio table overlooking the pool. Breakfast was self catering, where they provided a muesli cereal, milk, loaf of bread, jam and butter, and fruit juice, as the restaurant didn't open until 2pm (earlier Sunday brunch). The restaurant staff were very friendly and meals good. A fair amount of outsiders came for sunset drinks and meals. Very clean r[ms.

Wasn't really anything we didn't like about the Resort itself; it was as advertised - first time travellers might not know about the "wandering dogs" on the island though which did wake you up sometimes barking in the early hours of the morning but nothing major and not a reflection on the Resort or the facilities offered as they wander all around the island.

Very clean facility and we got more than the standard "top up" of condiments when we needed them, staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the 2-bedroom apartment was exactly as advertised and worked for the 4 of us (all adults) very spacious. The restaurant was lovely - right on the beach and had amazing sunsets (again as advertised), the food was great, generous sizes and well-priced as was the cocktails too. The local bus has a stop right outside the Resort, so this makes it super easy to make your way around the island if you haven't hired a car or scooter and the Supermarket was a short 10-minute drive/ride away. Check in and out was also super easy and Wi-Fi packages are available to purchase (we had no issues with ours). Great value for money and you definitely get what is advertised in their brief (not mis-leading).

Restaurant not open until 2pm. Not sure where the free kayaks and snorkel gear were located.

Sheltered side of island. It was blowing a gale almost everywhere else (Muri / Aroa) yet our spot was perfect. Beautiful sandy beach. Great swimming and snorkelling straight off the beach. Amazing sunsets. Lovely staff. Great cocktails. Spacious rooms. Great housekeeping. Excellent location, bus stop outside.
