Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI don’t think anything! Every is just as described.
This is hands down one of my favorite hostels on my euro trip. There’s daily activities for the day and night so nothing gets old. There’s home cooked dinners every night for 100 czh, it’s a very friendly and social environment. It costs more than other hostels but for good reason- literally one of my fave stays ever.

AlbaniaNothing to complain. The only issue is that some guests will stay in the shower for up to one hour thus leaving you waiting.
This was my first time staying in a hostel an was a really great experience. I liked almost everything staring from very welcoming staff and volunteers, the location is great. They clean it regularly and there is nothing to care about. There is a big kitchen where you can cook on your own, or eat some of free stuff. The staff organizes really cool events and makes sure everyone gets attention.

FranceNeeded to withdraw some cash, but there’s an ATM downstairs with no commission, so it’s good.
Everything about my first hostel experience made me want to do it again. There’s a very friendly vibe in the hostel, with lots of activities like dinners, parties, visits, and so much more. Plus, it’s well located, close to a big shop where you can find anything you need, from groceries to food and more.

United KingdomYou have to be organised as in a hostel you are sharing amenities such as the bathroom with those sleeping in the same dorms as you. This means you will need to be proactive to make sure everyone doesn’t need to use the shower around the same time!
The hostel was ideally located in Prague, within walking distance of various sights such as Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, and Old Town Square. The staff and volunteers I had the pleasure of interacting with were all amazing. I had the opportunity to explore Prague with Wally, Paige, and Zoe, who made the experience even more memorable. They ensured everyone felt comfortable, made some cracking family dinners, and provided a variety of games to help guests break the ice, while also organizing the best nights out at various bars and clubs in the city. I would highly recommend MadHouse, especially for those wanting to explore the nightlife and make some buddies from around the world.

United KingdomSome of the people in my room didn't respect the quiet time after 930pm rule. I understand it's a party hostel but some people just have a huge lack of respect clearly. This has nothing to do with the hostel itself but it may put me off coming back if I've got to get up at 5am again.
The staff were excellent. They got everyone involved. Dinner every night and nightly events. Not a bad word to say about any of them.

GermanyI stayed at madhouse, and it was amazing! The staff are super friendly, and the people staying there are the best. Everyone is open and fun to hang out with, so it’s easy to make friends. The hostel organizes lots of activities every day—like ice-skating, tours, and pub crawls. There’s always something fun to do, and it’s a great way to meet new people. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the common areas are great for relaxing or chatting with others. The location is also perfect, close to the center of Prague. If you want a fun, friendly, and social place to stay, this hostel is perfect. I’d love to come back some day ❤️

UkraineJust perfect. I usually prefer staying in hotels or renting apartments, but I was drawn to the ideal location of this hostel (just a 20-minute walk to the Opera House and 20 minutes to Futurum Music Bar). The hosts and staff were wonderful. I'm not sure how other hostels are, as this was only my second hostel experience (the first one was down the street, by the way), but this offer different activities for guests (like shared dinner, bars)
