How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Parking is free opposite, but I found it hard to find a space, it took 15 minutes of driving around the car park. Eventually found one a five minute walk away.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to the port. Comfortable room with nice shower.

Bathroom was tiny, took forever to get hot water through, terrible waste of water. Bedding was clean but some old marks on it. Even though they advertise free parking and there are spaces around the hostal, it is nearly impossible to find a free space. I had to park near the ferry port a good 5 minute walk away. They do offer a paid parking service at a local garage though.
Good location for ferry and town. Friendly staff, use of a small kitchen/dining room Even though on a main road it had good soundproofing. Overall a good 7/10

About a 30min walk from the historic core with all the restaurants and energy of Santander.
Friendly staff, good value for a private room.

As it was a multi apartment building. The noises of flushed water or any typical noises coming from neibours at above storeys. But not a big deal as I only used the room to sleep and shower really.
The atmosphere. Lucy was very good and helpful. Always with the smile. The place was a single bedroom with bathroom in tall building. Shared saloon with kitchenette. All equipped. Enjoy sitting there with laptop organising next trips to do.

I didn't dislike anything, all very good for price, but looking at other reviews, I had single room with courtyard view, so no natural light, plus I kept blind down and if noisy guests, you can hear them 😀 but you're on a break and it's just somewhere to use as a base. As I said none of these bothered me, great place to stay......I arrived slightly early to time I had given and let into main building by tenants not hostal owner. rang bell to hostal no answer for a while, don't panic you're in the right place 😀
Location was good for walk into centre , bus if need. I walked back to airport, hour 10 minutes light bag. Plenty of shops, cafes, bars close by, and while walking to centre. Easy to get around city from this location. Clean room, plenty sockets,excellent shower, friendly helpful staff. Definitely would stay again

The rooms are on a lower floor of a tower block with thin walls, so you can hear noise from above. The room I was in also only had an internal facing (courtyard) window so was quite dark - if I had known this, as just assumed there were only rooms with a sea view, I would have requested one!
Can't argue with the price for the room and location at all!

Towels thin and small. Walls were pretty thin as well, and not a great place for someone who is a light sleeper.
Room worked well for 3 Camino travelers. A bit far from downtown, but close to Camino route. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable.

To be honest the room was small and the location of Lucy's Pension was not very well sutuated. To tell the true almost in front there was a local bus station with a chance to go to the Town Hall and the Train Station.
The Receptionist, Lucy herself, was helpful and very friendly. The room was quiet. No noise at all.

More a criticism of my lack of Spanish rather than the staff/owner's lack of English but communication was difficult, my fault.
Very accommodating in storing our bicycles during our stay. The location is some way out of the centre but a pleasant enough walk in the evening and supermarket and panaderas nearby.
