Bed had a hard mattress! Some noise from neighbouring rooms, but it's a city with a busy nightlife!

Staff very helpful when we had a problem to solve and most of them spoke English. Location was excellent for touring the city. Breakfast set up was very good in a relaxed setting.

The walls were very thin. I could hear my neighbors tv all night on, and on the other side I could hear the other neighbor fighting with his wife at 3 am because he went out to have a drink.

The location was great. Very centric, with great restaurants and activities nearby.

The internet was unusable and disappeared frequently. The walls and doors were very thin and you felt like your neighbors were inside with you.

The breakfast was decent, though it had limited vegan and vegetarian options, which could be expanded. Additionally, some rooms face narrow inner courtyards, so not all have views.

Hostal Persal is a charming hotel located right in the heart of Madrid’s historic center, making it ideal for exploring the city. The building itself is beautiful, with tastefully designed interiors that reflect the area’s classic charm. Surrounded by numerous cafes and restaurants, the location is vibrant, and main attractions, the metro, and suburban trains are all within easy reach. The room I stayed in was spacious, providing a comfortable stay, and the cozy lobby offered a great spot to work or relax.

If you are looking for a swanky hotel then don't stay here. If, on the other hand, you want somewhere that's reasonably priced in the centre of Madrid then this place will do just nicely. The location was great, you can walk everywhere from here but there is a metro nearby if you want it. The area is pretty much pedestrianised which means it's quiet and away from the madness of the traffic in other parts of the city. The room was perfectly clean and the reception is staffed 24 hours by staff with good English. I didn't have the breakfast so can't comment on that but have no complaints about my stay here.

Our only fault …. My friend & I would have like tea/coffee making facility in the bedroom especially as the one located outside the breakfast room was out of order.

Central location walking distance to all major sites. Liked the square outside the hotel door with many bars & restaurants nearby. Spacious bedroom with good sized bathroom shower was brilliant as was the hairdryer (more powerful than other hotels I have stayed in). Self service breakfast was lovely with lots of choice & a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend!

My only complaint has to do with the strong damp smell in the room's bathroom. There was no window in the bathroom and no air extractor, in consequence, even though the room and bathroom were very clean, the damp odor was very unpleasant.

The location was absolutely exceptional, and breakfast was also excellent. The staff was friendly, professional, and very helpful.

I've stayed at Hostal Persal three times over the past decade, and it has become my go-to choice whenever I travel to Madrid. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, and the rooms are always comfortable and impeccably clean. The location is perfect—just a short walk from Sol and Plaza Mayor, with plenty of great tapas bars nearby. The adjacent restaurant is also highly recommended. I'm certain I'll be returning again!

The shower only has a half-sliding door which creates floods in the bathroom. More bedding would have been nice. There was no comforter and just a simple blanket. The room was VERY simple and lacking in amenities. This hostel was sold as a hotel but it is definitely a hostel. The breakfast was simple as well without many options. Slightly expensive for what was offered.

The location of this hostal is fantastic. It is central to everything important such as the Atocha Train Station and Real Madrid Bernebeu Stadium. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty but very simple. Air-conditioner in the room.
