How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

the staff were lovely. Shelly and Donna were so professional and helpful, they helped me be independent with my Guide Dog. bed was very comfy and shower had good pressure. breakfast was varied and quickly served. the hotel is two homes converted and joined with a conservatory walkway. it feels small, personal and friendly. the garden is courtyard, water features and a small lawn. I felt right at home.

Size of room including shower, parking. restaurant and bar and of course location
We booked hotel for its location to Theatre Royal and we were not so concerned about it’s facilities so we were extremely happy when we arrived and saw our room and the rest of the hotel ie restaurant and bar

The hotel was absolutely lovely. The staff were great, the room very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent with a good choice. The location was perfect too and the charge for parking very reasonable.

Unfortunately no air con but I did know that when I booked & it’s due to the building not being allowed because of age of property etc. My single room (9) was very hot when I arrived, suggestion, might be worth having windows open if possible before guests arrive as even after I opened the window & put the fan on it was still very hot whilst getting ready to go to an event. But a part from that, a great overnight stay, wish I could’ve stayed longer!
Staff extremely friendly, polite and accommodating. It was worth paying for breakfast beforehand as I had a mix of food from the different breakfast options. Beautiful garden area. Great location with onsite parking.

Evening meal menu was the same every night so we were forced to go elsewhere for the second night, which was a shame. £5 per day parking fee which I thought was a bit over the top as we were paying plenty for the stay at th ehotel.
Room was spacious with sofa, good size comfortable bed, quiet, tv with I player etc. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about availability of buses, local amenities, cathedral, castle etc. Breakfast had lots of choice, well cooked and well presented. Table service by friendly staff. Nicely decorated lounge and bar in modern style. Good value evening meal

The radio being played at breakfast. It's invasive. Let us enjoy the gentle chatter and the sounds of a meal! Those who really want music can wear their own earbuds.
Staff are very friendly and professional at the same time. Very helpful. Breakfast room is a lovely glass conservatory. Public rooms have historical style without being pompous.

The only slight niggle was the coffee machine was out of order for several days.. Not the hotels fault as they were waiting for an engineer
Everything about the hotel was absolutely brilliant and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would like to especially mention Matthew who made me feel so welcome and nothing seem too much trouble.. Thank you once again for a wonderful stay
