Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOverall the whole place is rather tired which is a huge shame because it has so much potential. The rooms, decor and bathrooms have all seen better days and would benefit from being gutted and re-fitted. Breakfast unfortunately came out quite cold, so we didn't return the next morning. We ate there the first night out of convenience, but regretted this.
The grounds and outdoor spaces are lovely, they're kept nice and tidy and are lovely spaces.

United KingdomIt was a little cold at night. It would had been nice to have had a little heater in there since the radiators weren't the best.
Looks like a great wedding venue. Secluded, quiet, and out the way. The room was a little dated but was clean and had everything we needed. Staff was friendly and helpful. Didn't try the food but had a takeaway delivered to reception. For the price I couldn't complain if I tried!

United KingdomIt was very tired and out of date decor. I couldn’t understand the charge of £20 a night per dog seeing how poor the condition of the property was. Have two small dogs staying two night at a cost of £80 seems a lot to pay.
A good location and style of hotel

United KingdomThe decor and facilities were a little tired and need updating. In the room some repairs were needed such as the bedside light and bathroom shelf. For the money paid I expected better facilities
The staff were friendly and helpful. I had a dog with me and the hotel was extremely accommodating. It was very pet friendly and really convenient for walks. It was lovely to be able to walk along the canal and nearby nature reserves

United KingdomBasic, functional accommodation that did the job for a one night stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Establishment was dated and in need of updating / refurbishment. Specifically, the public areas were cold (unpleasant), and the parking areas were not lit. More seriously, our room's over bath shower could hardly be adjusted between unbearably hot and scalding - this is dangerous / a safety issue, and prevented by wife from using it !

United KingdomThe quality of cooking wasn’t great. Dinner main course - no finesse, elements of chicken breast and vegetables just basically cooked and heaped on the plate. Breakfast - Scrambled egg overdone, clearly part of a very large batch, not prepared individually. Similar for sausages, over cooked. All akin to a transport cafe standard, not a hotel.
Convenient and pet friendly

United KingdomThe decor needs updating. The dinner food, albeit tasted nice, I would expect better quality of ingredients. The only diet soft drink available was Diet Coke (which is fine as I drink it) but wasn’t working which as a type 1 diabetic meant I could only drink tap water or sugary drinks which is bad for my condition. The cooked breakfast is very small portion, which for £10 is overpriced and resembles a Wewtherspoons breakfast which is half the price. No hash browns with cooked breakfast!
The staff were friendly The building and grounds had good character The dinner menu has good variety and tasted nice

United KingdomIt was a bit off the beaten track so good job they did food the room was cleanish but there were cobwebs. dust on bedside lamp. Bathroom shelf was corroded. Needed a new plug in sink water just emptied as soon as filled .And electric sockets were not right the near mirror,
Evening meal was a little disappointing as at 7pm they only had 1 portion of sea bass so had to have fish& chips as they didn’t offer any other meat free option. Breakfast was lovely

United KingdomHot water tap in basin in bathroom had no water (hot or cold) - cold tap worked fine. We were unable to work out how to run a bath, so had showers instead. Room was quite cold and rather noisy due to proximity to motorway - The property really needs double glazing throughout. Looking for a socket near to the bed, we found the only one there was a round-pin socket, which is not British standard. The hook behind bathroom door was broken off and unuseable.
The hotel was conveniently situated. The bed was large and comfortable. The room was spacious.

United KingdomThe bed was rock hard and the room was cold. It was difficult to figure out how to get the heater to work and when I did, it didn't stay on and heat up the room. The duvet was very thin . I was charged an extra £20 on arrival because I had a dog. This turned a reasonably priced stat into an expensive one and wasn't worth the extra money. The hotel description is "per friendly" and stated there were dog bowls supplied but ithe receptionist said she Was new and didn't know where to find anything when I asked. Needs staff training. I don't see why I was charged £20,my dog was good as gold. Outside in the garden, there were no bins that I could find to dispose of poo bags . The carpets looked in need of a good clean. With a small investment in a few little details, thus would be a fabulous hotel again.
Quiet location. Near to the canal. Within short drive of places to visit Good for local walks with the dog. Friendly reception. Comfy pillows. Dog treats and poo bags in reception. Pretty garden.
