The rear of the property and garden really does need some work. It is uneven and rather scruffy and was the only thing that lets the property down. It did not stop using it and enjoying the view and sunshine, but seems such a shame when everything else was so lovely.

Well equipped. Very clean. Lovely decoration and quality comfortable beds and quality furniture through out. Dressing tables with mirrors and plugs near by, often disregarded at accommodations but really appreciated by us ladies. Great view and we liked the church bells even on a Sunday morning ! Welcome pack was good with a Bakewell pudding which was delicious. The property is located on a hill so you will need to walk down the hill to get into town, not a problem for most but the return back up to get home is a climb, so if you are not nimble be aware. It is a pleasant walk through the park though.

Not a complaint but your on a hill and in a hilly area so just be prepared for that little extra leg power required when getting around. Also parking is not the best, it wasn't a problem as there is parking around however when you have young kids you want to keep the walk back to the cottage to a minimum. But really not an issue just thought it's worth mentioning so people know what to expect.

Absolute wonderful stay. Great instructions and welcome pack, made the whole arrival process easy. Host left us a lovely pudding treat which the kids enjoyed. Kitchen utensils, pots and pans, toilet paper, washing up liquid, teas and coffee were all present, it meant we didn't have to run out and do a big shop straight away. Makes a world of difference. The property itself is decorated to a high standard and was just perfect. Heating already on and set at good temperature so we didnt have to mess about with that. Met some lovely welcoming neighbours too. Great location, with the park and town centre within walking distance which wasn't too bad for the kids.

    N/A

This is one of the nicest, cleanest and most beautiful well appointed houses we have booked on Booking dot com. That’s the best thing about using this hotel booker is that they have boutique rooms and boutique houses. We chose Matlock because non of the 5 of us had been to Matlock before and as a family it was central for us all to meet and catch up. Check in was very easy and the house was newly renovated, clean and boutique in fact everything they said it was in their description and more…… As customers all we want is what hotels and property owners put on the tin. The lounge was a lovely place to relax and the wood for the open fire was a lovely touch, thank you. The kitchen and sink arrangement is somewhat different but that’s a part of the charm. The rooms were a good size and the beds gave us all a good night’s sleep. There is a lovely pub near to the property that offer good food, service and drinks. They even let us park our car there for the weekend. In summary: This is a beautiful house that deserves its positive reviews so it’s highly recommended.

On street parking outside was often a bit difficult, but we always managed to find space within 100 metres. Kitchen a bit tricky to use as sink is in a separate utility room.

Great location, central Matlock about 10 minutes walk away. Provision of Christmas tree in our lounge for our Christmas stay was a nice touch. The 'bell chimes' from the nearby parish church on Christmas morning were delightful; not a problem for us at night - no louder than occasional passing traffic .

    We liked everything

We absolutely loved the cottage, spotless, comfortable and warm - it was minus 5 on our first evening! Extremely well equipped and in a great location - 5 minute walk down to the town. Local pub 2 minutes away extremely friendly and welcoming to all of us including a toddler and a dog. Food was very nice too! Cottage is perfectly located and a short drive from local tourist sites if required. Claire was extremely helpful with any questions we had. Bell chiming from the church nearby was lovely - and did not disturb us at all.

Can't say I didn't like anything. Took a bit of getting used to in that no sink in kitchen. Sink in utility room next door with washing machine and fab dishwasher. Just took getting organised. Little garden a bonus but needed a bit of TLC. If there had been tools would have done a bit of weeding happily. 😀.

Comfortable, great beds and linen, nicely furnished. Sofas lovely. Excellent location close to town centre and nice park. Had all you could want for a stay in kitchen. 2 bathrooms great for group more than a couple. Booking was for us (retired couple) Son and daughter in law and thier 2 children aged 7 and 9. Great space and location.

I know it says it is on street parking, but this was difficult. Having to walk to move the car when a space was available was a distraction from a wonderful stay. We also felt the small garden could have been cared for more, alot of weeds.

The house is fantastic. Beautifully decorated and very well appointed. Kitchen is well kitted out. Beds very comfortable with good quality sheets and towels. The provisions left were also very generous. A fantastic stay.

PIR lighting on the landing lights up the entire house when someone goes to the toilet - it would be better of the lighting & Smoke detecter right above the double bed which emits a green light which is a little annoying if you are a light sleeper

Very well refurbished old cottage over 3 floors - just a short stroll through the park to town centre. The local pub is at the end of the street with great staff and wonderful food.

Great location minutes walking distance from town so easy access to shops and restaurants but not in the busier part of Matlock either so is quiet too. It's on a hill overlooking Matlock so the back yard gives an impressive view which would be nice in summer. Hosts were very responsive, responding to messages within the hour, check was super easy and the house was spotless on arrival. Internet is very vast and I was bale to work remotely during the week easily as well. House is spacious, two bathrooms made it ideal for my family would stay again.

We have an older dog a Labrador, if there was a door at the bottom of the stairs and pets were able to be left unsupervised at the property this would have been better for our stay however it didn’t ruin anything.

This beautifully renovated town house was perfect for our stay. A fully equipped kitchen with everything we required. The beds were really comfy and the kids loved having the choice of rooms.

That is a tough question to answer when everything is so nice.

My wife our lab and myself found this location great for all the local amenities and attractions, we also ventured into the dales with ease. The decor was very tastefully chosen and the property was very clean and well equipped, with everything needed for our stay. The view from the patio was lovely of the pretty church and town, which is stunning as night fall. We will 100% be booking again and taking the family next time.

    1. Kitchen sink is in a small step down utility which is weird and inconvenient 2. Not much garden at all although view is amazing from small garden 3. There is a church just next to the property . It means you hear bells all day and night … we didn’t have any problem but someone with light sleep or sensitive to noise may not prefer this location. 4. No designated parking … street parking is a luck if you get a space .

Very clean property with clean towels / linen , enough clean cutlery and utensils . There is a Dishwasher !

The name does not lie - the bells at the church chime every 15 minutes 24 hours a day (i naively presumed they would be turned off overnight!). And with single pane windows, it felt like you were sleeping in the Bell tower. The street noise was a lot on the Saturday night - presume the alley next to the house is a popular shortcut as we heard a lot of shouting and singing early hours of Sunday morning. The landing lights are on a sensor and stay on for a while which was a pain for keeping our daughter asleep and settled but they also went on of their own accord a few times in the night which was creepy - especially as the property doesn't feel very secure with just a single lock on the front door which I felt like a swift kick would break. We are very security conscious so it was unnerving hearing so many people go past when the door felt quite flimsy. It was also stiflingly hot, a fan would have been welcome. This meant we got very little sleep as a family. Although the outdoor space had a lovely outlook, it could have done with a little tlc - the broken concrete was a little unsteady for our young daughter. The stairs are steep - it would be no good for someone with mobility issues (we had to carry our daughter up and down)

Decorated to a high standard and spotlessly clean, lovely character to the home and cute terrace with fabulous views. Welcome pack was lovely with tea, coffee, cereal, biscuits - thank you. Loved that they were all local products too and the coffee was delicious. Well located in that it was a short walk into town (although it was a work out on the way back pushing a pram up the big hill). Free on street parking - very limited but actually we had no problem finding a space either day. Well stocked kitchen including washing machine and dishwasher. Cot present in the property for our daughter which was easy to set up. Plenty of space and lots of natural light in the property, it really is decorated beautifully and is clearly well looked after. Shower was lovely and powerful, was nice to have a full bath too.
