Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOld victorian building which is tired and could do with some TLC Very wobbly bannister which could be dangerous No low lights in the lounge No bedside lights No outside parking except for loading (didn't bother us) "Old lived in smell" but we aired it in the day and you soon got used to it If you want 5* this isn't for you If you're happy with basic and want it as a bolt hold to see York it's ideal. We were a family of 4 inc a child with disabilities Toilet downstairs and steep stairs but to be expected in an older building
Location was great Bus stop opposite 5mins to city centre or direct walk takes a leisurely 20mins Asda in walking distance 10mins Beds comfy Shower hot and powerful Lovely and warm Washing and drying facilities were very helpful Kitchen well equipped Towels provided and loved the extra touches of shower gel and shampoo/conditioner Coop a few doors down was helpful Spacious Clean Garden Free disabled parking with blue badge in public car park at the end of the street. We stayed the whole 4nights with no issue We were able to have a late check out after contacting the owners as we had to transition our child (autistic) to the next change in activity which was lovely. Lots of up to date leaflets of what to do in York Helpful and accommodating owners

United KingdomThe only real downside apart from the mattresses being a little worn was the location of the bathroom. The stairs are quite steep and it's a bit awkward to get up at 05.30 to use the bathroom but we just drank one less cup of tea. Room for improvement in a couple of areas and could do with a spruce up here and there but on the whole we found it comfortable and it was a safe and quiet place to settle in after a busy day round town seeing the attractions.
Me and my friend found the location quiet and very convenient for going into town. The house has a charm and quirkiness to it, it's a little dated here and there but well equipped and the beds were more comfortable than we expected at first glance. For January there was enough heat to be comfortable and the bathroom although a little inconvenient being next to the kitchen rather than upstairs added to the talking points. We liked the house overall and you can see it has a lot of potential. We'd consider staying again in the future and it was a value for money break for us both to lift the January gloom. Thank you!

United KingdomMicrowave broken-annoying with a toddler. Sparse cutlery and cooking equipment. Everything a bit dated. Could do with touch up. Toilet downstairs just house design but being pregnant was not ideal for this 😂 could do with getting a new travel cot. Very tatty and dirty. We did use it as had no choice. Mattress cheap in main room
Good location. Easy to get in. Large property.

United KingdomSome easy fixes really but easily missed External doors were very drafty and letting out a lot of heat No bedside lights in the bedrooms was a slight inconvenience
Great location Free on street parking on a nearby road (10 mins unloading in front of the house) Bus route 843 outside the door to get in and out of town but walkable when the weather was good. Generally everything we needed, kitchen well equipped. Coop and post office really nearby and a couple of pubs Would definitely stay again

United KingdomThe owners forgot to send me the code for the lockbox with the key, and the house could use a bit of maintenance (mostly peeling paint and cracked plaster.) Also, some larger glasses and more than two teaspoons would’ve been nice.
Lovely little house, conveniently located for walking into the city centre or for public transport (bus stop right opposite!) The owners were responsive to my problems - when the fire alarm in the kitchen started beeping, people were sent round right away to replace the dead battery.

United KingdomThe oven tripped out. The bath taps didn't work. And it was very dusty. The bedding could be updated. And the toilet seat wonky. But other than that I would definitely stay there again. It's perfect for a weekend and would stay longer. Fantastic weekend. Thank you.

United KingdomParking is a bit tricky as you can only park outside the house for 10 mins between 9am-6pm. However we managed to park to load and unload the car and rented a space on a local private drive at low cost on a parking space rental site so were able to leave car there for week which was fine.
Fantastic location, just a 15 minute walk into York centre. The co-op next door and park opposite also v handy, a nice and safe location. Great for a family of 5 and our 2 dogs who had a great holiday too: garden and park great for them. The house itself was clean and comfy and had everything we needed. Lots of space, comfy beds and towels and bedding provided. A great little base for our York adventure, we hope to come and stay again.

United KingdomThe house could really do with some update of the interior decor as it looks really old. Wallpaper peeling off in hallway. Toilet bowl cracked at the bottom and not a full toilet seat. However, these didn't really affect our stay and would stay again.
The house was clean, great location. Owners were really helpful if needed to be contacted. Would happily stay again.

United KingdomKitchen had 4 wooden spoons but no tin opener, also the only frying pan was enormous- a waste for 2 people, doing two fried eggs.
Liked the fact that it had a washing machine and tumble dryer as we had been travelling for more than a week. Having the bus stop right outside the house was also great.

United KingdomNo dedicated parking space available.. All parking close by, was one hour with no return in an hour during day time and free to park during night time.. this causes a problem if you want to park during 9am and 6pm but you can manage by moving your car to different nearby streets. And during nights no problem.. No smart TV.
Closer to the city. Central heating worked well.. House was as shown in the pictures so no surprises.. Great kitchen and good set of utensils available.. Instant responses from the host and able to reach him on the phone if necessary.

United KingdomCould do with some more cushions in the living room, few missed cobwebs, and no egg cups. But these are all minor things. Parking wasn’t clear so update on website would be helpful for next person. Noticed some tv channels were very pixelated.
Central location, warm with all provisions and facilities we needed for the weekend.
