How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The room didn’t have a hairdryer, next door were very noisy late at night - the noise travelled easily - and the mattress was too firm.

The hotel could do with a refurbish. The carpet in the lift was poor - very old, thin and curling up at the corners - and the fire safety door I passed through for my room had a broken glass panel in it. My room's deadbolt didn't work.
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, couldn't ask for more. One lady even interrupted her evening break to check me in. The hotel was easy to reach from Gloucester Road underground station, so very well located for transport around the city. It was also quiet at night.

the mattress is hard, like concrete. Carpet in the hallway needs cleaning. Poor soundproofing between the rooms.

Welcoming staff, easy check-in and check-out, room was clean and comfortable. Hotel is close to bus and London underground stops. Could hear the traffic noise outside and sometimes the movement of people staying in nearby rooms, but it's an older hotel so that is to be expected.

no wifi in my room due to its location, need instructions on how to turn on and operate air conditioning without going to front desk and requesting someone to come to room, no phone in room to contact front desk. Heard noise from other rooms.

The pillows were awful.. wasn’t any better to have 2. Also the windows could be fully opened that you could walk out which was very dangerous, and also there was no seal on the window so all noise came in, I’m glad it was summer time cos any colder and the room would have been freezing
Loved the location. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, couldn’t recommend them more.

Mattress not massively comfortable but fine for a budget and short stay. A lot of road noise but that’s just with it being on a main road.
Fantastic location for the price, <10 min walk to closest tube stop and ~25 mins into central London. Spacious a decently equipped room (kettle, tea, coffee, shower gel, shampoo, full length mirror).

It’s very noisy… From the street and also the other rooms around you. There was also a bad smell in the bathroom the day I left.
Location was good. A very busy street and lots of stuff close by. The staff is excellent and it’s very clean.

Walls in corridors and bedroom was scuffed and dirty. Dirty carpets in the corridor. Lots of car noise from street - double glazing would be better - and from people opening and closing fire doors in corridor. Toilet seat didn't fit properly in bathroom and had a stain.
Reception staff was friendly and efficient. Single room was big enough. Comfy bed. Toiletries and tea available in room. Central location

Wooden floor in the hotel room wasn't the nicest, TV tiny (almost better to not have one), tried to get an early check in, general signs of wear and tear in the room.
It did the job. Looking for a cheap stay near the Royal Albert Hall and this was about as cheap as I could find. Shower was brilliant, bed comfy, had air con which worked well.

Very good location close to the tube station, restaurants and supermarkets. The triple room was bigger than I expected. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and securely stored our luggage before check in and again after check out.
