The Orangery was pricey, which would be fine if the service warranted this. Staff appeared inexperienced and food was average. Lots of little mistakes and cleanliness during service, dirty trays when serving drinks, missing items, freezing cold at night when there were heaters available which could have been switched on instead of needing a coat to eat.

Castle was beautiful, lovely location. Angel on reception was lovely, polite and helpful.

Very slow service at dinner. We were first in the restaurant but still had to wait around 25 minutes for our starters. Some portions were very smal. We chose to eat elsewhere the other evenings. Continental aspect of breakfast very poor. No grab rails in accessible shower, making it too dangerous for my disabled mother to use. Despite being notified of specific dietary requirements, the hotel was not very accommodating.

    Lovely room.. Comfortable bed.

The bed was making an annoying noise when one of us was turning or sitting up. This was a four poster bed not the normal one. I didn’t expect that for the price per night. Also in our room we noticed before going to sleep that the radiator was coming off of the wall. Maybe a bit more maintenance is required. One of the staff at breakfast in my opinion are not very good at greeting people and throughout the breakfast most of what we could hear was clinking forks being taken out of the cupboard to be placed at tables. It got really quite annoying after a bit. It was the loudest noise in the orangery, more than people talking to each other.

The food in the dungeon was nice. The staff in the reception and the dungeon were really helpful and nice. A nice walk around the grounds.

Unable to put out lights from the bed. No suitable phone charging point/socket in reach of the bed, although I appreciate this is a very old castle, and lighting and electrics must be difficult. Toilet very low although good for my grandson! I stayed with my 6-yr old grandchild but they were not able to use the dining room or spa, which I hadn’t appreciated before booking.

Excellent vegetarian breakfast, beautifully cooked. Spacious room, with plenty of cupboard/drawer space. Loved the original shutters, which completely shut out all light. Loved that the conversion to a hotel is in keeping with the original building. Often the conversion of similar buildings results in a more modern section, but that didn’t apply here. Cleaning staff seemed excellent.

The dungeon set menu was the only choice for dinner you had. And it was limited choice. The food was fabulous but if your there s week or more you’d be very fed up eating the same stuff. The orangery does just sandwiches. The spa staff weren’t very experienced well not the one I got. And the tiny little bar and boring big room are a bit disappointing, again the only place to congregate at night.

It’s stunning peaceful and quiet and has the falconery which was amazing and archery and the spa.

Stairs, but it is a castle! 😊 After the first trip up the stairs it was like being on an adventure!

Our room was generous in size, lovely, with a wonderful king size bed. The meal choices surprising, were great size portions, and delicious.

No help with luggage up the stairs. There should be someone hired specifically for this. Bedroom would be best with a mini fridge. Slippers were terribly cheap quality. Shower items such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash placed on the ground of the shower. Cheapens the experience. Fan in bedroom was useless with little power. Ice machine would be lovely if no mini fridge is possible. Spa was very outdated and lacking. No slippers were given, water jets in pool were broken, lots of wear and tear on items throughout. Breakfast was terrible. Not worth the money. Eggs were over cooked, when they eventually came, yogurts were lacking, a lot on the menu not pressent for our 45 minute sit down with coffee. We eventually just left.

    Nice grounds

The staff withinin the castle (reception/bar staff) were not very welcoming or helpful and seemed preoccupied with the wedding preparation for the following day that we were not told about before booking our stay. We were unable to access many of the common areas within the castle as they were occupied with wedding prep or decorations etc. We were extremely disappointed we couldn’t see or enjoy the library because of this. I believe we should have been told about the function and how it would impact our stay as we paid full price

It was incredible! Full of history and luxury all in one. The rooms were beautiful and luxe, the dinner in the dungeon was immaculate and the wait staff in the dungeon area were exceptional. The grounds surrounding the castle were beautiful to explore as well!

The music playing throughout the castle was odd, outdated elevator music. Celtic or even classical music would have been ideal. (It is a Scottish castle after all!) It might sound nitpicky, but it was very off-putting.

Our stay was very charming and relaxing. We loved walking the trails along the creek. The room was comfortable, the food was excellent, and the library was one of my favorite rooms!

Very warn welcome from reception on arrival, excellent room with additional extras that I had asked for. Fantastic food and dungeon ambiance. Good to get the information on castle's history and plenty of walks to enjoy as well as other activities on offer.

The meal in the dungeon wasn't really as good as expected.

The location was great. The outside was really nice and walking around the property was relaxing, The room was nice but needed updating. The handbasin was cracked and the curtain linings were split. The food was nice but the wait staff maybe needed some personality.

The equipements of the rooms are all right, very clean and comfortable, but not really modern. Considering how much we paid for the night, I was expecting something a little better, but this is offset by the great location (you are staying in a castle after all) and the services available. Also, maybe the rooms are not as expensive when Taylor Swift is not around...

We spent a night in this place after arriving from the airport and before picking up a rental van to go to the Highlands. Because of a Taylor Swift concert, it was one of the cheapest options available but of course it is probably not the case at most times. The castle is very impressive and the location overall is quite scenic. Nice staff and breakfast in the sun.
