Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Staff were all amazing and couldn't do enough to help. Room very clean and comfortable. Lovely garden to enjoy your drink or meal, or just sit and read. Lovely food, both breakfast and restaurant. Fantastic location.

That it was only for 1 night - we were trying to organise our schedule to accommodate an additional night but it didn't work, sadly. We have stayed here before and it was as good if not better this time.
I did not ask for a quiet room but it was very peaceful - even though it faced the road. The food was particularly good; the bed was comfortable and the staff were very helpful.

It was all very good. I couldn't see that they had a bar from the website , which was perfect for reading the papers with a pint.
This country inn is on the coast road passing Staithes/ Whitby etc and the bus passes by the front door. Our room was in part of an adjacent cottage, ground floor and accessible for a pretty court yard/ garden, ideal for dog owners. The room was spotless and comfortable Staff where super friendly and the food was fresh and very good.

A little remote but near to places by car.
The facilities were clean, well equipped and the bed was comfortable. The staff were all very friendly & welcoming. Breakfast was very good.

A lot of noise from the room above us but that could have been because of the age of the building.
Everything about the hotel was wonderful. Courteous staff, excellent room, a shower that worked! The breakfast was fantastic, Superb location too, within a 15 minute drive of everywhere we wanted to be. Fantastic

The whole experience was fabulous. Lovely pub with luxury rooms cosy bar area and great food and Landlord bitter. Every one of the staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us . The breakfast was individually prepared and exceptional quality. Our Cockapoo Jackson can’t wait to come back

We can't really think of anything!
We took a few days' holiday after a busy festive season and are so glad we went to Ellerby Inn. Every member of staff was super helpful and friendly. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The hotel was warm during a real cold spell, breakfasts and evening meals were very good. A really useful benefit was having a reliable bus service stopping right outside the front door. We'll be back.

TV cd only get catch up channels Bill sorted fine but the printed copy was very unclear. Bore no resemblance until we had the card receipt.

Everything about the property was excellent as usual. We have stayed here 4 times now and every time it's fantastic. Spotless, homley, comfortable, excellent food & choice of drinks but the best thing is the staff. Everyone of them are always super polite & friendly, from booking in to the restaurant & bar staff & cleaning staff, all are always really nice & that's why we will definitely be back again & again & again.

Dust a few ceiling cobwebs from the hallways and room. Childgate a bit flimsy. That’s all I can think of as it was a wonderful stay.

Leaving!
Everything, The place is lovely, Clean, Tidy and quaint! The staff were fantastic all with great friendly but respectful personalities. We have stayed in many similar establishments but can honestly say this this we enjoyed the most. Breakfast was spot on and just cannot find fault! So convenient to visit family, who live nearby in Saltburn (Brotton). Thank you Ellerby Country Inn XX.
