Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The staff where so nice very helpful, a lovely place to stay we where in a attic room it was small but very clean. I would definitely come back and stay in one there more luxury rooms. Looks like a great place to have a special occasion party. They have a bar in the hotel or if you go out if the hotel and walk about 10 steps they have The Tavern a cute pub there was a quiz on which we took part. Was made to feel very welcome.

United KingdomRoom was tiny, especially the bathroom. Bed was very uncomfortable Window would not stay open Breakfast was ok, no extra veggie options, no fruit, no pastries. Worlds slowest toaster that only produced burnt toast. All the food was cold even though sat on warming pans

United KingdomCarpets could do with a clean as there were marks all over on the room. The breakfast in the morning we had to use a high chair as the toasters plug could not reach the plug socket, a bit of a risk
Hotel room was very good for the price. Large room and the bathroom was stylish with the industrial look. Breakfast was exceptional as well as the parmo!

United KingdomOur TV in our room didn't work. We reported this shortly after our arrival and despite someone saying they'd come and fix it, nobody came for the entirety of our stay which was disappointing. The lady on reception apologized for this on check out but this didn't change the fact that we had no TV. For breakfast we ordered avocado and eggs on sourdough toast but received it on focaccia. No communication about why the change but it didn't make a good change due to the sense texture and flavour of the focaccia. Only lamps in the room, no light. Two of the lamps had bright white bulbs and one was a warm white. The warm white bulb was much kinder on your eyes in such a small space. The bathroom is really tricky for two people to use at the same time because of how small it is and how the door opens into the sink.
The hotel was good value for money and only a 15 min drive to Durham city center. They accommodated an early breakfast for us on Sunday which was appreciated

United KingdomAll good. We went for a cosy room and that's exactly what we got.
A beautiful building with smart clean interior. Easy parking and fairly close to a park and ride for Durham. Lovely helpful staff and good quality food. We felt the staff really cared about us and the hotel. Thanks Joanne for being particularly helpful.

United KingdomNot very disabled friendly. No hand rail on the steps leading to the entrance. Room door was difficult to open while holding a walking stick as lock was too high and when you did get the door open it would spring back to close.
The Staff were excellent from the girl on reception to the woman in the dining conservatory. Room was very clean and beds very comfortable. Very accommodating when we asked about booking a table for 10 for a family reunion.

FranceRoom 202 was very noisy and the noise was constant. Just below the window was the ventilation system. It blew the whole time. Bring a terrible sleeper I did not sleep well. I also thought there wasn’t enough staff around. Bit thin on the ground.
It’s a beautiful house standing on exceptionally pretty grounds. I loved the fact it’s out of the way of the hubbub of everyday life. Our room was so cosy (202). The food was absolutely delicious! We had the chance to dine in one night and the taste was exceptional and it was piping hot. Compliments to the Chef! Best meal I had had all week! Is this place haunted? Had a very weird experience! Love it!!

United KingdomHonestly cannot think of anything that would warrant a bad review.
All the hotel staff were friendly, helpful & well presented, Margaret on reception was paticularly good as there was a slight issue with the booking which she sorted quickly on arrival. The room was clean & comfortable & our room had a rainfall shower that was really good. There was a good & varied breakfast choice & all the food was very good. The same applies to the evening meals, the chips were paticularly good. There was ample car parking space & the hotel was a 5 min. drive away from the park & ride making Durham city easily accessible. We would definitely stay there again.

PhilippinesThe location was exactly what we were looking for—absolutely perfect. The boutique hotel itself looks stunning. However, we were a bit disappointed with the double room we booked. As soon as we walked in, there was a noticeable old house smell, and we had to open the window to air it out. There wasn’t really a proper spot to place or open our luggage, so we had to unpack and use the wardrobe, which also oddly housed the electric kettle and two cups—it felt a bit out of place. The bathroom was extremely small—I'm only 50kg and even I found it hard to move around, so my husband had an even tougher time trying to shower. On the bright side, we really enjoyed our dinner. The light bites were especially delicious—the Garlic & Chilli Prawn Bruschetta, Teriyaki Pork Belly, and Black Pudding Scotch Egg were all standouts. The mains were also solid, with the Parmo being a highlight. The Thai seafood curry was hearty and filling, though the sauce could use a bit more flavor. On-site parking was a big plus! The TV was a good size, but using the remote was a bit frustrating since you had to point it above eye level to get it to work—it seemed to have a bit of a mood!
