Should have read further about the reviews as we didn’t realise that there was a nightclub underneath

The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Unfortunately, the fan was broken and the tv wasn’t well positioned. I wasn’t a fan of the lack of staff, and the interference from the nightclub - unfortunately I wasn’t aware of this, just didn’t realise that it was so loud.

Nobody onsite or contact number to call if there is a problem. Room 10 bed is broken, the base has been put through so no support to the mattress. Noise is a big issue bar /club closed all day then opens later in the evening till 2.30 am. These details are not in the hotel details when booking with Booking. com .

Easy access to rooms. Basic toiletries but nice touch. Tea/coffee facilities adequate. Bedding nice .

The second door doesn’t lock. The first door was often found unlocked too which doesn’t feel super secure, although it’s Aberystwyth, so hardly a hotbed of crime. Ran out of supplies with no staff around to ask for more. Although to be fair, not a big enough issue for me to email or anything like that, just a little touch that could have improved it. Felt more like an air bnb than a hotel which isn’t quite the vibe I want from a hotel, but I understand the price reflects this.

Nice central location, above a club but we knew that so that doesn’t matter. We were on the top floor anyway so nothing seemed too loud. Check in was clearly explained. Room was clean with towels/tea/coffe etc. Room was quite comfortable, very large which I like and I loved the big window!

- Wifi was a little erratic, it was fine when it connected but it kept on dropping out every 15 minutes or so. - Extractor fan in bathroom didn't switch off automatically, had to be manually activated/deactivated.

- Ease of check in (both from a communication point of view and from actual check in process) - Decent size room - VERY good shower!

The tv didn’t have wifi so I couldn’t access anything on it, should maybe put a wifi password somewhere.

It’s very lively on a Saturday night which we did know about. Door handle to bathroom was hanging off and fell off when partner was using bathroom therefore was locked in.

Location is perfect for Aber, parking near the church (down the road).

The establishment did email us because it is above a nightclub which was really nice, but to be honest we didn't hear much sound.

After booking i received a email stating that thr bar would at weekends be open until 3am !and no refunds would be given because of noise complaints, room 10 ( my room) was unfortunately overlooked the outside drinking area so was obviously very noisy. Luckily i was out until late myself so wasn't a issue for me. just feel Hartley's should have been more transparent before booking

The key was not in the box. Nobody was answering phone. Eventuly got hold of staff. Missing key was probably with cleaner. Had spare key. Was a bit worried that some random could have access to room.

It’s very old so everything is a bit tired - the doors have big gaps underneath and the whole building has an old stale smell to it. The security is lacking, both doors have the same code and the front door was often just left open - no staff in sight during our stay. We went during the holidays so the bar downstairs was closed, but knowing Harley’s and how much noise we experienced while it was closed, expect a very noisy visit during term time.

There were no staff around at al. I used the email address to contact and received no reply. The window wouldnt shut properly and with the awful wind when I stayed the noise in the room was horrendous. Luckily the bar and nightclub were shut, I dont think I would have managed to sleep at all if not.

Room and bed was clean and spacious. Bed was comfortable. Good tea and coffee facilities. Bathroom was clean. Good central location.
