How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Breakfast was OK just had to wait for mushrooms.
Very accomodating for my little dog Toby . Staff were lovely and very helpful. Would stay again.

The clubhouse food menu.
Very dissatisfied with not actually staying in the hotel...paid for hotel and stay was up a steep set of metal outdoor stairs in a small block of rooms. Defo would not of paid to stay there if I had of known.

Location a bit variable for availability for taxis - book in advance
Nice staff, manager extremely accommodating and provided some essentials I had forgotten to bring. Location good for wedding at Hawkstone Hall. Nice breakfast

The breakfast wasn’t great - we were down fairly early (8.30) and it had clearly all been sat there a while

Shortage of staff in golf club, trying to get food. To play golf was more expensive than staying for one night, you should have a stay and play rate. As we would have taken that deal. As it was the golf courses were deserted, both on the Friday and Saturday.

Tv was Tiny, bed was a small double not a double we stated, there’s nothing nearby as in no where to get food if you don’t like what they offer. It’s just in the middle of no where.
The bed was comfy, staff were Lovley. The beef was nice but not worth £20

Not necessarily a did not like, but this hotel predominantly caters for golfing parties due to its location, so not a destination for quiet couple weekend away not golfing, but did not detract from a pleasant one night stay.
Well appointed good size comfortable room, with good food in the evening. Good location for our visit.

Unfortunately due to rain course water logged . . Not their fault. Champion course closed. Limited choice at breakfast . OK if you like a fry up . 3 cereals toast and croissants. Not much choice if you have dietary issues

I really wanted to do early check in as the wedding started at 1pm unfortunately that was not available for me yet the hotel was not fully booked

Bit of a drone from a generator kept us on the cusp of falling asleep most of the night though I think there is little can be done about such thing. After all, life is not always what you want it to be and this is just one of those things that you must not allow to ruin your experience of life in general.
Room very comfortable. Spacious. Restaurant very pleasant. Dinner not too expensive.

We stayed one night before a family wedding. The steps were a big problem I had my elderly parents with us and they were on the 3rd floor with no lift, we had to swap them with another guest on the ground floor even tho my parents had paid for a suite!

lack of air con and the big tv with England playing was turned off when the golf bar closed and a rather small tv came out on a trolley in another room. Would of been better staying open or a large tv etc
Bed & Breakfast room and it was clean and comfy, just a little hot as no air con in the room stayed in.

We went for a drink at the bar on our return but didn't stay due to the loud and boisterous behaviour of the other guests staying at the hotel. However, our room was above the bar, so we could hear everyone in the bar area until the early hours of the morning. We could also hear guests in the adjoining rooms and corridors.
We stayed as we were attending a wedding nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. Good shower for the morning.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and comfortable. Food was of a good quality but the evening menu was somewhat limited and some options at breakfast quickly disappeared.
