Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWasn’t anything we didn’t like
We had a last minute stay here, room was lovely and clean, kids loved being a room with a turret, and dinner was great. Great location by the Campsies too!

United KingdomThe dinner at night and the breakfast in the morning were a bit disappointing. TV signal was poor.
Lovely hotel, although it is in need of a bit of TLC. Great bathrooms and bedroom. Lots of parking available on site. Staff at check in and in the dining room were great - very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomEverything was fine though a bit low on staff. Residents lounge not staffed to had to go outside and round the back to the convivial bar, which was fine. Didn't book breakfast and nobody else had, so I couldn't change my mind as chef took a morning off. Again not a problem as kettle in room.
I paid a bit more for a superior room and a lovely large room with turret attached and lovely bathroom with stand alone bath. Think it was the honeymoon suite. No complaints at all. Would go back again

United KingdomThe bathtub was a huge deep one just inviting you to have a bath, but the plug was broken so I couldn't fill it up. Mentioned this twice to staff but nothing was done about it, which is a shame! The room was also stone cold when I arrived and with only one radiator for such a large room, it remained a little on the chilly side throughout my stay. Won't be a problem in the summer!
Huge room, comfortable bed and a nicely fitted out bathroom. The attached bar/restaurant served good quality food for a very fair price. Staff were all friendly. Breakfast was also good.

United KingdomThe private road up to the property could do with some attention.
Lovely historic property, always a pleasure to stay in buildings like this that are well maintained. Staff were friendly and polite, and the breakfast was exceptional, my favourite a full Scottish and cooked to perfection. We were only here for one night but I would definitely stay again. We had dinner in the bar sat next to the lovely big log burner, very comfortable and relaxing environment.

United KingdomRooms weren’t very soundproof - could hear next door but didn’t disturb our sleep thankfully. Main meal was mediocre (peas were unfortunately really hard & plate was overloaded with them). Fish however was delicious.
Beautiful property, fantastic facilities & comfortable room. Staff friendly and welcoming, dining environment in the conservatory was lovely. Brilliant breakfast. Ideally located for stop over enroute to highlands.

United KingdomFood was limited, apart from literal buckets of chips for dinner, few quality alternatives within easy reach, but village cafe good (with rhubarb gin cake...). Disappointed no porridge available for breakfast, but huge portions of eggs. Local information would have been useful, we had to find our way and ask around. A lounge or sitting space would be good.
Helpful hotel workers. Excellent local walks. Plenty of space in rooms and conservatory, good showers. Quiet, good grounds and convenient parking. A good alternative to Glasgow city, access good for central Scotland eg Stirling. Clearly popular for local functions, we were lucky it was quiet.

United KingdomWe opted to try out the courtyard restaurant for our evening meal. I am sure the main building would also have been good but in this other area we were served by two very helpful and enthusiastic young people who again could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. This high standard was repeated when we enjoyed a hearty breakfast the next morning. Different staff but the same high standard.
This was the first time my wife and I had visited the hotel since our wedding reception back in 1972. We really enjoyed our stay from the moment we crossed the threshold until we left. All the staff we met were most accommodating and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Our large room was well appointed with everything we required for an excellent stay.

United KingdomA cold breakfast, freshly cooked ??
I only had breakfast on 1 day. The beans were cool, blackpudding was cold too. I had to go and ask for butter which was brought from the kitchen immediately. My tea was cold & had to ask for replacement which took another few minutes. I have stayed in Kincaid nearly 10 times in the past & never had this happen. I was the last guest to come down for breakfast & the staff were all very nice to me.
