Unfortunately, booking last min got me a room with a bath tub. Being 6ft 4, doesn't help bathing in a tub. Ideally all rooms need to be with a shower cubicle.

Food was sensational, fresh, great choices and served on time. Staff couldn't do enough for myself & wife. The owner was a humble, honest and very down to earth.

The pillows were a little too firm for us, but the team came up trumps and provided softer pillows making our other nights perfect!

Breakfast was excellent, with an excellent choice of options and quick service if you complete the breakfast tick list the evening before and give them your preferred breakfast time.

We were a bit disappointed we couldn’t park in front of property but had to park on a rough overflow car park. For a disabled driver this would have been difficult. This overflow car park needs a solid covering I.e tarmac

Fabulous room with lots of luxury touches. The grounds are very pleasant and it had lovely staff and a great breakfast. The room was clean and the bathroom very grand but comfortable and appropriately high-end. Dinner was great.

I had booked an evening meal for both nights, on the second morning I checked the time with staff, he confirmed 8pm. He then said there was a little note on my booking re special menu due to having dined the previous night. Exactly as I had been told on the phone when I booked in June. At 8pm, when I went to sit in the drawing room, the staff member said quite loudly that I didn’t have a booking. I said I did and recounted the tale of when I booked plus that I had checked the time this morning. He again said loudly that I didn’t have a booking and that I must have spoken to housekeeping!!! What followed was about 10 minutes of faffing, eventually to be td by the owner that we could be fitted in. The other member of staff did not apologise until the end of the meal. I just expected it to have been managed better, calmer and not to behave as if it was my fault .

Perhaps an alternative menu to the 'grand dinner' which was excellent but which would be too much to eat more than once.

The garden was disappointing. Obviously the owners are focused on promoting the Snowden legacy and the restaurant but at some point it was be good to get an RHS garden designer in to make the garden super special.

The location was good slightly out of town. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very attentive. We ate at the Gunroom restaurant one night which was very special indeed. The food was amazing and the atmosphere lovely. Xavier and his team are exceptional and it was definitely a treat and great value for the quality. Such a nice experience at a lovely country house steeped in history.

So much history...atmospheric and warm...a bath in the roll top bath looking out the window was quite amazing..sitting in the drawing room for a pre- dinner cocktail, and Post dinner by the fire for a nightcap.. the dinner itself in the gun room was beautiful and breakfast was fabulous..I didn't want to leave!
