Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe entrance and corridor of the cottage was worn and tatty. The rooms just needed a refresh but they were clean and tidy.
The location was lovely. The room was clean and tidy but looked tired. It was equipped with the basics and we slept okay but there was at of movement from the rooms above which woke me a couple of times. The entrance to the rooms above which/cottage was in a little worn and tatty which didn’t give a good first impression. The breakfast was good and all the staff we met were really lovely. If the cottages were freshened up with fresh paint and carpet it would make a big difference.

United KingdomWe stayed in on of the cottage rooms and it felt a little tired with damaged tiles around the bath and water staining on the wall at the fireplace. Also had a few issues during our stay. After the 2nd night of our 3 night stay we had quite a rude call from reception saying we were supposed to move room (no one advised of this at booking or check in) for our final night and they we’d have to return to move our belongings or housekeeping would do it. After a few calls back and forward and me refusing to allow staff to move our stuff we were allowed to stay in the same room. On check out the was no one on reception so I left the key at the drop off box and left. I then received my checkout email with an evening meal charge to our room that we didn’t have so again after numerous phone calls and a message on booking.com we finally got it sorted and taken off. Thanks to the member of staff who dealt with this promptly after my message to the hotel.
Beautiful location and the main building is lovely. Great little outdoor seating area for evening drinks.

United KingdomRooms cramped, mattress hard, no bedside table to the right side of bed, sink tap dispensed hot water mainly but no cold. Used jugs of water from the bar. Not very clean. No restaurant info in the room eg menu, timings. Main items on menu were Burgers, little else to choose from, although the chef did deviate the menu to suit us with simple fare!

NetherlandsThe room was clean, but a bit outdated. We had dinner there which was good, but some items which were on the menu, were not available when we visited.
It was a good size room, with bath and everything you would expect. It is located in a beautiful area with a lot of history where it was nice to take a walk. It had an inhouse restaurant so you did not have to leave the hotel to have dinner.

United KingdomThe hotel itself was lovely - it's a very good wedding venue. Small things could improve the room i.e. The mirror in the bathroom was far too high ( I could only see above my eyebrows ) I had to ask for a glass for the bathroom., The full length mirror on the back of the door was little use because the desk was so close to it that you could only stand approximately 6 inches away There was no mirror at all above the desk - this could be easily remedied. When you are going to a wedding at the venue I'm surprised that such small but obvious things were overlooked.

United KingdomNothing to not like this trip
Great location, nice room, lovely communal areas to sit with a drink and as weather was good we spent the early evening outside the bar before dinner which was really peaceful and had great views of the old mill workings and the river Had food there, which was good quality and a reasonable selection, also had breakfast which was cooked to order and again, good selection well presented. The staff in the restaurant for both evening and breakfast were great, really welcoming and entertaining to talk to
