How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Apartment is very small, decor is dated and requires new carpets throughout and fresh paint . Television is very small also and not fit for purpose . Shower cubicle was also very small . Noise levels are excessive from both the streets and other apartments within same close .
Host was very quick in responding to an issue that arose with the key to address

Little things like bedside tables and a lamp in the living room would have been a nice addition and inexpensive to add.

Need a second set of keys - or a bolt on the back of the apartment door.
Good location, all very clean, good range of pans for cooking. Milk and cereal were left which was great.

Only small double beds so cosy, good job we were relatives! Short on some cutlery and crockery, as apartment sleeps 4, not 4 of everything, needs more pillows

A little noisy with people going upstairs and downstairs at night. But got what we paid for so all ok. Bed mattress was pretty average though

The shower water was too weak and the water temperature was difficult to adjust
Stylist decorating and clean everywhere . Good wi-Fi and kitchen facilities are all set.

As others have said, we hit our heads on the ceiling a fair few times in one bedroom. The sofa/pull out beds were not very comfortable.
The location was great. We are a family of five, so we had two small flats on the top floor. This suited us well. The flats were small but well equipped. There was cereal, milk, tea and coffee available. The TVs had netflix. We were able to cook meals on the stove using the pots and pans etc.

Kept bumping our head on the slope of the ceiling , but that's nobody faults but our own . A little creaky the bed !
It was in an excellent location, everything we needed to cook meals . All well stocked, milk, and coffee and tea and cereals on arrival. Our host came quickly to attend to a runny tap.

A couple of things are needed to make it a bit more comfortable - a dish rack, space for toiletries in the bathroom and a lamp in the living room would have been handy, but didn't make the stay unpleasant. On moving furniture for sockets we noticed that under/behind the furniture needs a good clean. Parking is a max of 2hrs so had to find somewhere else to park.
Apartment had most things needed for a comfortable stay. Check in and out was easy. City centre location is very handy. Great value for money. Would stay again.

The shower is a bit difficult to get right and weak but to be expected on the top floor. The window in the bedroom didn't quite shut top and bottom which may be an issue when it's cold. The old sash windows do nothing to keep the seagull noise out either which you will get in these coastal areas.
One bedroom apartment on the top floor complete with double bed, living room, kitchen and bathroom. The outside lobby area looks tired but the apartment itself is modern and it is very good for the price. The kitchen had a washing/dryer machine, kettle microwave, cooker, fridge and toaster. A carton of milk was there as well as some cereal, thank you. Towels provided and there was some washing up liquid. You need your own shower gel and soap. Bed very comfortable. Good communication from owner with simple self check in and out.

Pillows and beds were poor quality & uncomfortable. We travel extensively and stay in a lot of properties and rarely comment negatively, this not a preference simply not good enough and uncomfortable.

The stairs were challenging. There were no labels on anything or instructions on how to use appliances in the unit, including how to turn the towel rail on.
