How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There really wasn't anything to not like about this hotel, it really exceeded our expectations.
What a stunning find this was, great value for money, beautiful clean spacious room with a fantastic breakfast included in the price. we would happily use this hotel again as it was perfectly placed for everything we wanted to do.

There is no refrigerator in the room.

There were only 2 things that let this place down. The rooms were too hot and there was no fan provided in the room. Also, the shower was AWFUL. Don't wash your hair here if you have thick hair it will take you forever to get the shampoo out as the shower is basically a dribble. I could have washed myself better using my dogs portable shower!!
The staff were very friendly, the location is incredible with good views and accessibility to local sights. The breakfast service was very good and good service.

Nothing it was exceptional
The breakfast was included & very nice. We had dinner the first evening & it was very enjoyable. There is a 24 hour coffee shop. Room was on the ground floor & property was on the A1 excellent for getting to all the tourist locations. Recommend the boat trips from Seahouses

A bed route or car is needed taxi,s were extortionate they charge what they like
Sadly location not on a bus route luv let area but middle of no where you do need a car then it's ok I chose not to drive from where I live

The only minor complaint would be that the shower is either cold or scalding.
Comfortable beds, and a cosy eating space. Easy check-in and fantastic location just off the A1.

Staff were helpful. Excellent location. Sensible price.
The Lodge was excellent, and the room was clean and well equipped with the option of a bath or shower. Small restaurant with good food and choice. Easy to park. Although on the A1, there wasn't any any road noise at night.

The only small negative was the shower pressure.
We chose Purdy Lodge as we were visiting Holy Island and Alnwick Gardens. It was a fab location. All the staff were friendly and really helpful. We ate here for breakfast and one evening meal. All the meals were really tasty. The breakfast was excellent. It was excellent value for money. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely stay at Purdy Lodge.

Location is an excellent base to easily visit different castles, beaches and islands. Right on the a19, everything is close by but no issues with traffic noise as rooms face out on to the fields with view of Bamburgh castle and the sea in the distance. Rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. Breakfast was included and was really nice. Staff were lovely and friendly. Couldn't fault anything.
