Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe continental breakfast was disappointing. There were no cereals, a bowl of fruit was provided on some days, otherwise just slices of melon.
Lovely reception staff, polite restaurant staff, history of the property, lovely library with lots of books you could borrow and a few games. The staircases and all the exposed beams created a great atmosphere. Very convenient for Stratford-upom-Avon and the Cotswolds.

United Kingdom1. We stayed in Bedroom 10. There were no shelves in the bathroom for our toiletries, so we had to put them on the floor ! 2. On our first night, the roast potatoes were rock-hard. Probably overcooked ! The vegetables including the Brussel sprouts were hard and probably undercooked ! On the second night, the roast potatoes and the seasonal vegetables were better prepared and delicious.
1. We stayed in Bedroom 10, which was a lovely large room. 2. The staff were good, cheerful and helpful. We told the staff beforehand that we are deaf and can lip-read if they speak slowly and open their mouths when talking to us. They obliged and we were able to communicate easily.

United KingdomTired rooms and furniture and fittings, including poor lighting and pretty dreadful bathroom with cheap bath and broken shower fittings, pullcord overhead lighting and no ambient light over the mirror. Really disappointing. Restaurant stopped serving at 2030.
Excellent breakfast, including good quality barrista coffee - flat white - and very friendly and helpful team, including reception.

United KingdomThe price of the hotel is expensive, although we paid a reduced rate. I think if you were expecting luxury this is not the place for you. It is an experience. Really old manor house with lovely gardens. The facilities in the room not very inspiring, tea and coffee on really old tray with one small pack of biscuits with 4 plastic milks! Also the garden furniture disappointing, beautiful garden with pond but just hard pub benches, would have been so much nicer to have comfortable chairs with tables. Just small details but would make a difference.
We stayed in the main building, in a room on the top floor and had a huge Four Poster Bed overlooking the beautiful grounds. It was very quirky and atmospheric. Really old fixtures and fittings. The Bathroom was huge with a large bath and modern fittings. Very clean. The breakfast was good and included in our room price. The small bar had comfy seats and the staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcome. The whole place felt very welcoming with a relaxed atmosphere in a great location. We met with family for an overnight stay and it was very enjoyable.

United KingdomFood service
A lovely hotel that is very dog-friendly and serves excellent food. Our only issue with our stay was that the meal service was extremely slow. We were sitting in the Conservatory as we had our dog with us. The staff were very friendly and helpful but the service was slow. Perhaps this was because it was a Sunday evening? Other than this we had a very pleasant time.

United KingdomUnfortunately, our stay coincided with a wedding. Although we weren't in the main building, there was a lot of loud music noise as the evening wore on, though this did stop around 11.00p.m. So it wasn't quite the quiet relaxing stay we had envisaged- though we did manage a peaceful late afternoon sit in the Beer garden - presumably whilst the wedding guests ate. People were not loud or intrusive around the building, but the warm weather meant the doors to the marquee were open during the evening.
Building and grounds were lovely. Food was great. Staff were very friendly and helpful although they were obviously stretched by another event happening at the same time. We admired their ability to keep smiling throughout

United KingdomOur room (upstairs in Tudor Court) was very hot, can't imagine how it must have been the week before when weather was hotter. We solved it by putting on the fan all evening and leaving the window wide open the whole night. The bathroom, though beautifully appointed, smelt of old cabbage. Solved that by putting the plug in the bath which stopped the drains smell coming up. Bit of a mix-up with our room booking (we had asked for a twin, told there had been a room change at the last minute) and again in the morning with our bill (thought we had had dinner and wine, but we didn't). Staff very pleasant but did not inspire confidence. The super-king bed really needed a topper. The join should not be that obvious!! Duvet was thick winter weight, would have been impossible to sleep but luckily we had our own summer-weight bedding in the car as we were on our way home from a family holiday home! Bathroom was ensuite but upstairs from the bedroom and the hand rail higher up was joined to the wall so could not be held safely. Not suitable for older guests. The shower itself worked well but in the eaves with an old beam overhead, so no-one over 5 ft 9 could have stood up in the shower. I though I had booked a hotel with a swimming pool so was happy to pay the price. My mistake obviously, this hotel does not have a pool! Not sure how I got that impression but anyway, don't come here expecting to swim!
Super king bed was comfortable and we slept OK (except for very hard join in the middle). Breakfast was good. Old building was fascinating.

United KingdomOur room was over hot. There were two radiators in the room, the thermostatic valves on one was broken off, the other was stuck full on. we couldn't turn down the heat. The mattresses were thin and when I sat up my bottom touched the base. I think this hotel aspires to be a resort destination but there is more to be done yet. At dinner I ordered olives from the menu but they came back and told me they had run out with no offer of alternatives. Not very good. I think we paid for what they apire to rather than what we got.
