Great hotel just outside the city walls. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. The hotel had a lot of places the sit and have a drink from the bar. Good breakfast choices.

My room was in the attic of the old wood store. It was a little bit on the small side and was very warm.

The location of the hotel was excellent, just outside the city walls. We cycled there as a group of eight. The hotel were able to store our bikes securely overnight. They were able to look after our overnight bags which were delivered a day earlier. The hotel provided enough rooms of the right type for our party. Although an old building, the decor is lively and up to date. Breakfast was excellent.

Excellent breakfast, both cold buffet and hot cooked to order. Staff welcoming and helpful. A lovely decor that melds modern taste with medieval surroundings. In good weather, lots of outdoor seating to enjoy a drink or relax. Really enjoyed the location near the city center for all our sightseeing and traveling (5 minute walk from CBW station). The room amenities (cookies, bottled water) were upscale Smallish room, but sufficient for our purposes.

The bedroom needed new curtains and the base on the bed was fraying. Also did not enjoy my breakfast not very much choice on the help yourself and the cooked did not have much flavour.

The conference of the hotel and the staff.

I want to mention specifically Jodie on Reception for her patience and courtesy in providing us with a room that met our needs, particularly as we tried three rooms before finding the right one (in the Wood something annex - the building that is not adjacent to any road). Our room was very quiet. The carpark is a problem without resolution. We walked round Canterbury one day and the car stayed put. We went touring on another and couldn’t get back in. Everywhere seemed full and it took half an hour to find a parking spot leaving the car well away from the hotel.

Very comfortable room. The hotel is in a great location, located on the ground floor with a small garden entrance. The breakfast is delicious - a mix of continental and cooked. The lobby is nicely decorated and has an art deco style.

The bed - it was two singles together with one sheet and when both of us were lay on one each it sort of felt like two singles rather than the double that we expected. Not as easy to move comfortably in the night as could feel the gap. We only stayed the one night but would have mentioned it if we were to have stayed more than one. Perhaps a good topper could solve this??

Copper bath was amazing in the bedroom. Loved the attick room - felt like a real escape for us which was expectly what we hoped. The decor was fab. Great attention to detail in the room, but also the hotel too. Delicious breakfast - we wish there were other meals! Staff were lovely - thank you. The gentleman at breakfast was so friendly.

Breakfast was good, the room was spacious, the bed was very comfy and location was great - easy to explore Canterbury on foot. Really enjoyed our stay here. Quite a good hotel bar for a drink back at the hotel.

Nothing the hotel could do about it, but if you're overlooking the road and a light sleeper then the bin lorries outside early in the morning could be a bit loud.

A great location close to the river and the city centre in an atmospheric, historic building, with welcoming staff, well furnished bedrooms, comfortable beds, and a great breakfast. What's not to like?
