We stayed in Room 1 , a really nice, spacious room and excellent bathroom - would have been 10/10 but... Only reason we marked our experience 7/10 is because of the saggy , uncomfortable mattress .

Room 6 is small with no windows that open. Noise from laundry and creaking floorboards above. A lot of dust on towel rail.

Since my last visit, there was no cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit offered to have along with a cooked breakfast if you wanted this.

Central location. Excellent breakfast with a good selection. Staff were incredibly helpful. The room was comfortable and everything you would expect. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was powerful. The room was also cosy and quiet.

We found the mattress abit firm for our taste and we were disappointed that they stopped serving food at 5pm on the Sunday evening although that could've been because it was Easter Sunday.

We enjoyed our stay at the hornblower very much. Our room was lovely, spacious and well equipped. The breakfast was delicious, cooked fresh, generous and a good choice including smoked salmon. The evening meal was delicious to and good quality and generous portions. The staff were very friendly especially the manager Luke who was very helpful and welcoming.it was well placed for Rutland water and not far from Stamford. We will definitely stay again.

Bedroom 1, lovely large room and bathroom, but a small niggle, no surface near the basin for toiletries, no toilet roll holder and a clothes hook would be useful.

We were in room 6 in the courtyard and unfortunately there seemed to be inadequate soundproofing as we could constantly hear the people above walking about!

Exceptional breakfast. Clean, room, comfortable bed. Fabulous shower, plenty of hot water, pleasant complimentary toiletries and super fluffy towel. Vert friendly , helpful staff. Hotel located in Main Street, handy for everything: eateries, shops bus and rail stations.

Staff were pleasant but seemed inexperienced - especially at check in. Room was a bit bleak on a cold night and bathroom needed some maintenance. When I came back at 10.15pm the front door was locked and the pub closed. Had to phone the duty manager to get in.

It's a pub (popular restaurant) with rooms so maybe my expectations were too high. Rustic style room in a conversion in the car park. Pleasant but lacked character - got cold at night. Nice cosy bar for breakfast - freshly cooked and included. But there are better places in town at the same kind of money.

The clothes rail in the bedroom was a bit wobbly!

Staff were excellent, especially Luke (Manager) and Beth who were kind, helpful and very efficient. Breakfasts were very good.

Pillows very lumpy, duvet and bed linen very poor quality. Shower head full of limescale, and spray shower head broken. Nowhere to place toiletries in the bathroom, so had to place items on the floor. Cobwebs on the ceiling in bedroom. Noise from the bar downstairs heard in the room. Having paid extra for a superior room, all of the above was even more disappointing. No hot water on day two, mentioned to staff but no alternative or concession offered. Breakfast consistency not equal, Saturday morning superior to Sunday morning.

My room fronted the high street and was rather cramped. Waited too long for the menu and wine was poorly presented. The bass fillet was small. Had to park in the public car park in Church street wasn't convenient when raining.

Breakfast provided a good selection, staff worked hard. The passion fruit posset although over sweet had great depth of flavour (best I've had in a long time!

... but SUCH S L O W service! We sat for fully 35 minutes with NOTHING, having come down on Sunday morning. Eventually, having asked "can we please order?" the young girl stopped chatting to her chum and took an order. We still had to ask for cutlery and napkins when food eventually turned up

Next time they should make sure the rooms they are offering are fully prepared, especially in the winter.

Friendly staff upgraded my room as the one I was initially given was a cold outhouse and not part of the main hotel. The heating had not been turned on and I couldn't sleep there being an elderly customer. Bed was comfy. Good delicious and at a cut price as it was January
