How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

A few little things like we were all a wake early because of the thin blinds and some bedside lights would be good
Really clean and had everything we needed close and easy to get into Manchester by the tram and could check in was easily, the free parking was great

Colin was amazing! He was very responsible and responded quickly. The surrounding area was very quiet, and it was close to the tram, bus, and train stations. The stay was comfortable.

A good location to park your car and explore Manchester. Close to the tram, train and bus. Friendly welcome when we arrived. Room was a bit small but had plenty of storage - cupboard and drawers. Could open the window for fresh air.

Some very minor construction work was still ongoing but I wouldn’t complain about that.
The site manager Colin was fantastic. If we needed anything he was always available and quick to assist.

The aparment was lovely and very well secure. The room we had was a decent size as we were only staying 1 night. Great that the place is dog friendly. The shared kitchen is great although we didnt need to use it but is a great addition to have. Bathroom was a little on the small side but not a major issue for us

Here and there, there's a few areas of carpet that could really do with a refresh. If you're stopping on business it really wouldn't matter too much and maybe a darker colour carpet would be more forgiving but it perhaps unfairly gives the wrong first impression because the place itself and our room was really clean.
Really great location, straight off the motorway and close to the town, local shops and the tram. Plenty of space in our room, comfortable bed and everything we needed for a weekend break.

Watered down shampoo, dirty cutlery and crockery, cheap thin mattresses, very cold and we weren’t allowed to touch the heating. Actual warning signs threatening a fine for touching the heating which was never on.Tiny bathroom especially the wash basin. Up the top so many stairs! No curtain so it was light all night. The skylight window didn’t shut.
It was quiet and roomy. Close to church where we were attending a conference.

The basement room had no natural light, small window looked out onto a wall two feet away full of rubbish. The loo seat wasn't attached to the loo, and the shower trap was broken and dirty

Good choice. Its always great to have a fridge and microwave in the room. Everything worked and it was easy to get to Manchester centre. There was some renovating going on in the kitchen, but I didnt mind and the staff was helpfull. I gave feedback on the cleaning, but they fixed it fast which was great!

It was obvious they had done a quick clean of the room and the bedding was washed. However, the room was not cleaned thoroughly and there were dog hairs in the bedding and on the carpet. But was fine once I had removed the animal hair and spruced it up myself.

There was a little noise from the guests above. And the radiator in the bathroom needed bleeding.
Ashcroft Apartments had a great location for our needs. The beds and bedding were good. Kettle, toaster and microwave were in the room. A Sainsbury’s local was close by. Colin was great and very helpful.

Was difficult to find as there was a lot of construction near the property My booking for as not quickly found the in the system before check in Was worried I would not be able to get access to room Had to keep calling caretaker to let us in
