Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoads were noisy at night. Thee was a problem with the shower temperature, which the landlord tried to fix, but it was still a problem. The gate key was stiff and my husband was unable to master it.
The property was small but had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped with appliances and tea, coffee, milk and condiments. Good shops and pubs were withing walking distance. Good road networks are nearby.

The barn was easy to get to and had parking at the front for our hire car. Bit of a shuffle at times parking. We were happy that it was behind a locked gate and then you had a private courtyard. The place was very clean and had all the amenities needed. The bed was very comfy. The location was central to transport and shops. A bonus is we had snow which was lovely. Would definitely stay again.

United KingdomThere are a few bits that could do with something of an update, especially in the bathroom, where the shower controls were not the greatest and the bathroom cabinet could do with replacing. I realise this is nit picking but it does detract a little from what is an overwhelmingly positive experience
I was travelling for work and this place was exactly what I needed to relax and to continue working after relatively long days. The place has some nice touches that make it feel quite homely. The Internet is really good and being able to use the main house facilities such as the washing machine is really useful. The host gives really clear info before the stay and lots of good info when you get there and is at hand if need be though leaves you to it unless required. 2nd time i have stayed here and will defo again There isn't a great deal to do in the immediate area, although the canal area is quite nice, it's in a great location to visit areas like Nottingham, Chesterfield, Sheffield etc which are all within a short train journey (train station is less than half a mile from the Barn.)

United KingdomThe only down sides to this property were the limited parking and the traffic noise. It was very hot on the first night so we had a window open and the traffic is extremely loud - not a problem when the windows are closed though.
The property was clean with comfy beds and a good shower - the most important things for a good trip I think! The outside space was safe and enclosed, so ideal for our little dog.

Arriving late, we were given the combination of the key safe, and the instructions were very clear. Clean, separate from the other properties, it was exactly what we were looking for.

United KingdomThe only negative I can say is we couldn't get the heating on, but this wasn't a big issue as we weren't freezing, if it was then we would have contacted the host.
It was a really lovely little place, I loved the history part of it being an old converted barn. The print out information left for guests was a really nice touch.

United KingdomThis is a really quirky place to stay, a little bit different and totally unexpected. The attention to the little details really made a difference. The communication from Alan was brilliant and the pictures sent in advance an absolute god send. Having the small living area / dining room and kitchen with separate bedroom gave me lots of space to relax and unwind after a hard day of work. When i needed to work remotely the excellent WiFi really enabled this. I honestly loved this little place and would highly recommend this for anyone visiting the area (not really suitable for families unless its a couple with 1 young child)

the facilities where amazing and everything i could need was provided a kitchen with all utensils and equipment to make food with a fridge freezer ironing board and washing machine and cereals provided with tea and coffee so i didnt have to buy any for myself, it was like a little home from home, and the fact it was a seperate building it felt more private, staff were kind and sent instructions and where more than happy to help if needed
