How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Evening meal was not good only ate once then ate out. Bar was not well stocked no choice of wine.
Breakfast good. Rooms clean but dated. Tea and coffee filled on request. Fantastic shower and mirror. Great view from room and lounge area.

Evening meals very poor. Limited alcoholic drinks available at bar.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean. Breakfasts good. Views overlooking Loch Linnhe superb.

we arrived at 11 but we're unable to get food as they didn't serve food until 6pm. hotel very clean but dated! felt like the room could do with some airconditioning

Hotel is a little tired, a lot of cobwebs in the rafters and window frames of the restaurant. Restaurant menu not available with no explanation (admittedly should have asked why!).

The building is tired, carpets with worn holes, just needs upgrading. The room wasn’t the cleanest with stains on the walls and on the bedside table.

Hotel is quite old and could so with some modernising but positives definitely outweighed the negatives for me. Would go back.
Friendly staff, welcoming and very efficient. Room was fine, nothing special but definitely functional, we had a room at at the back so didn't have the amazing view though as it was only an over night stay it was fine. Food was great, had dinner and breakfast. Dinner was great value - 3 course for 24.95 and very tasty indeed

Rooms/facilities are a bit old but fine for our purposes.
Good hotel as a base for hiking, we were there just for an evening before doing the 3 peaks, good size rooms with a nice view over the lake.

The hotel itself needs some TLC really,, my room was a bit gruby. The room was clean but a coat of paint is long overdue. Staff where quite good. The bar/restaurant area is a bit soulless really. Location is ok if you have your own transport because its about a 40 minute walk into FW.
The price, Accommodation in FW, is really too expensive for what you get. This hotel offers a more sensible rate during the week. It's all about the price here

I think £10 per dog per night it expensive, it put me off staying more than one night. Considering we didn't arrive until 1930 and left at 0800 the following morning I don't feel the additional charge is justified, the dogs certainly didn't create an extra £20 worth of cleaning

Although I feel the rooms were recently updated, the bathroom could have been cleaner, the grouting in the shower needed a good scrub and the bathroom door was a bit grubby.
Staff were all friendly. Location was great not too close to the centre of Fort William, only 5 mins away in the car. Some road noise from the room but we were only staying over for one night so it was okay. Dining area was spacious and clean. Bar area was also clean and comfortable and the dogs were allowed to be with us which was good. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Rooms were basic but comfortable, we were in room 108 on ground floor overlooking the car park with views of the water/hills, I feel the room was recently updated, beds comfy, bedding nice and white/clean and plenty of storage. Kettle and cups were provided with tea and coffee. Overall for our one night stay and for the price we were happy with the hotel and service provided.
