How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Very lovely and comfortable stay. Great food with welcoming and friendly service. Our room was tastefully decorated and had everything you need. Lots of footpaths for walking with a dog.

The breakfast was exceptional, excellent quality and variety! The food served during the evening was also delicious, some of the nicest pub food we've ever had. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were continuously friendly and made us feel welcome. Highly recommend!

No phone signal here so must rely on the wifi to make calls.
Very comfortable accommodation and welcoming staff. The food is excellent and much better than a typical pub. The premises are in a very quiet village. So if you like peace, you will find it here.

This is a charming property in a lovely location. We really liked it. In addition, the food was EXCEPTIONAL. we ate both dinner and breakfast and really couldn’t fault either - great choice, great quality.

Lovely comfortable and clean room. Really friendly and helpful owner and staff. Only stayed for one night, wish we had stayed longer. Booked a table for dinner and this was excellent.

The service was fabulous - everyone went out of their way to make sure we had all we needed and our little dog had the warmest welcome imaginable! The room was comfy, great shower and with nice touches like the coffee machine, fridge and welcome pack for 4 legged guests. Location in a quiet village meant a great night's sleep and walks almost from the doorstep. Food was great too - both dinner and breakfast.

The rooms and restaurant were fantastic Service impeccable Location just what we like in the middle of the country no street lights and very little traffic We will definitely be going back and recommend the Cartwheel Inn to anyone looking for a quiet time away

The whole area boasts no phone signal, which complicated my navigation to and from the inn. There is wifi, but i didn't find the signal strong in my room. Breakfast didnt start until 09:00 which was too late for me as I needed to leave by 08:00. Despite these small issues, I would stay again.
This is a country inn with a small number of rooms. The room I was in was freshly decorated and consisted of a separate living area from the bedroom with a large sofa, television, fridge etc. The bedroom and bathroom both nicely decorated. Overall, it is very comfortable and clean. The inn is in a very small village and is quiet - no traffic noise. The evening meal was excellent and included an extra fish menu, which was much appreciated. The staff were friendly and professional. The owner/manager was very welcoming. The whole experience was very positive.

Paul and Andrea were amazing hosts and were so attentive! A lovely countryside pub, beautiful surroundings and it was decorated to an excellent standard. Food was delicious and a very high standard. Nothing was too much trouble, can’t wait to stay again!! Thank you!!! Sarah & Mike

The bathroom sink was small and the glass shelf made teeth cleaning very hard, Shower screen not the best and I would say mounted the wrong side. But a lovely new suite decor throughout the building was excellent.
Lovely property and excellent staff, we brought our dog and would recommend, They did everything they could to provide a welcoming atmosphere including bed and breakfast for the dog! And also plenty of treats included. Breakfast in the morning was excellent and the evening menu looked and sounded great, I really wish the owners all the best with running this pub and B&B I think it’s really something special
