How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

A bit noisy at times being on the High Street and being over a pub but slept well enough even so. No breakfast service but good proximity to local cafes.
Nice comfortable room. Convenient location to access tourist activities in the area and public transport. Good food available in pub downstairs, for lunch and dinner.

It was exceptionally hot (30+) during our stay - it was great that there was a fan supplied, but it was still a very warm night even with the windows open!
Great location, well presented, compact and clean room with ensuite bathroom. Great vibe in the pub downstairs, but also quiet at night, even with the windows open.

Unfortunately, I stayed during a heatwave and the room was way too hot. They provided a fan but it simply just blew hot air around. Opened the windows and it did cool down during the night but bear this in mind.
Perfectly acceptable room, bed was comfortable and big towels for the shower and all the amenities you could need coffee / tea etc. Traffic noise outside all dies down around 10pm so no problem there for sleeping. Very pleasant staff, would happily stay again.

The hotel is situated at an intersection of a busy road and so there is a bit of traffic noise
Recently renovated trendy clean rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Supplied toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities. Good size room and comfortable bed.

It is situated on a corner of the high street and we got some noise at night.
Tastefully refurbished with the original brick walls standing. The provision of toiletries, water and so on had been thoughtfully provided.

Traffic dies down about 8 pm , I was a bit scared it might be noisy at night

At room only it wasn’t the best value for money and there was no option for breakfast had we wanted some. The towels were small. The light in the bathroom was on all night with the outline shining through the doorframe. and we couldn’t see a switch to turn it off.
The location was excellent for the purpose of our stay. Very close to both the train station and bus stop (300m) The bed was really comfortable.

The room was clean and recently decorated. It was however quite small for two people, and the shower was cramped for a larger person! Although I understand, lack of parking and limited trains do make travel planning even more important. Perhaps an Uber account or taxi contact could ease this.
T By far the biggest asset of the property is the staff. Without exception friendly, professional and efficient. From the manager to all the staff they helped give us a truly memorable evening. I would highlight Ellie who was there from Checkin to dinner, nothing was too much trouble and her genuine smile really set the tone. The menu was good and varied, quality very good and delivered in a timely manner

No AC.
Have stayed at The Fortesters before. The rooms are clean and individually decorated. They are also a decent size and the bathrooms are good. Only issue is lack of AC, but that’s typical of this type of accommodation.

The shower was very hard to operate. I had to use a towel to turn it off. No plugs by bed and the hand rail on the stairs felt very loose.

The bedroom size and lack of hanger in the bedroom, even though requested large superior room. And the shower knob needed to be fixed.
Bed and shower were good except the shower knob hard to close water. Room very small even though requested superior room of 18 square meter, but got smaller one.
