How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Parking was a bit cramped, especially for blue badge holders.

Room spacious. Couldn’t make the radiator work and shower gel cradle fell off from the shower. But no dramas, we loved the walking

We stayed in the Maid Marion room the only problem was the bathroom being dark.
The staff especially the manager who did almost everything and Jessie who is a lovely, polite young man which is rare these days, they couldn't do enough for everyone. It's a very good location to stay near to everything you want to see, we really recommend this hotel.

Car parking on-site was limited. Had to take pot luck to obtain a space within the hotel car park.

Breakfast was lovely, choice of fry up, cereal, toast, tea, coffee and fruit juice. Room was fairly big, comfy bed, good powerful shower.

We had to ask for towels in the room and these were frayed/ a bit worn when we got them - they were clean though as was the whole place. The breakfast was wholesome but could have been a bit more refined/ more choice but generally good value for money.
The cleanliness, the location, the room decor, the comfy bed and the staff were lovely. Shout out to Jessie who was very friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was ok. The eggs were overcooked and the coffee was a bit weak. It would have been nice to have more variety of cereals and pastries.
The room was lovely. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed, nice and warm despite the wooden floor. Nice bathroom although we weren't there long enough to use the shower.

No cups for making tea, no glasses for water and no spare toilet roll…but we could have asked!

Not much not to like really. I was surprised the chef was "out from 6 till 7:20" but to be honest life happens doesn't it and it just meant we chilled out a bit longer before dinner. We were in the room much the millers son. Fabulous. Just a heads up the floor shakes when you take the keg delivery at 6:45am we found that fairly entertaining but we were getting up early anyway. Not sure how everyone would take it.
We loved the beds the showers and the food both morning and evening were great. A wide range of ales and with the pool table and log burner the atmosphere was great.

The room was quiet on Saturday and Monday nights and the doors provide good soundproofing against general pub noise but on Sunday there was an incessant beat from a speaker in the pub below the room. This was virtually inaudible from in the bar but very disturbing in my room and wasn't turned off till after 11. I also had to wait ages to check in behind about 20 pushy young drinkers. I know I was staying in a pub but it is charging hotel prices and I get the message that the residents are absolutely not a priority for the bar staff. I'll be trying somewhere else next time

didn’t have shower gel in the bathroom and we unfortunately forgot our own so popped out to get some but would of been handy - staff could of been a little friendlier
Bed was extremely comfortable, room was spacious and well decorated. Clean and warm. Clothes rail made good use of space and very appropriate. Tea / coffee / biscuits really good / had plenty of sugar / tea bag’s etc ( Yorkshire tea which i also credit ) also loved it is a dog friendly hotel and there’s a shop close - was great will definitely return

The mattress sloped outwards, the floor didn’t appear to have been mopped, the velux vent was broken so remained open. Veggie sausages at breakfast would have been a nice touch.
I liked the large shower which was easy to access, the bathroom was spotlessly clean, the room was nicely decorated.
