Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe visited in April , appreciate it was early in the season , the hotel was busy one night with a wedding function and could maybe have worked better for everyone if extra staff were utilised in the bar and dining room .
Hotel situated in a great location , valet parking was really helpful as not the easiest town to park in. Bar terrace had great views over St Ives Bay and was a relaxing place to take a drink and have an evening meal . Bedroom nicely decorated with seaviews and friendly seagull who would sit outside on the window ledge .

United KingdomNothing really we have now been there for six short breaks. It was noticeable that the prices had increased a lot
change of room to sea view was very welcome and garaging the car under cover. Last year it was left in the open and was covered in seagull s..t

United KingdomTravelled by rail and it would have be useful for the path from the rail station to the hotel ( a choice of two possible routes) to have been signposted. We picked the wrong path up the hill which would have been treacherous in wet weather.. Room 116 is by the steps to the spa and looks out over the road but seaview rooms were not on offer at the time of booking.
Contemporary style decor. Continental breakfast included in room rate with various cooked options only £10 extra. Ricotta soufflé omelet particularity good. Restauraunt food and selection of wines very good. Staff approachable and competent - both front of house and housekeeping. Well kept hotel and spa. Handy location for Porthminster beach and bars/cafe’s. 15-20 minute walk to St Ives harbour and seafront depending on pace and direction.

United KingdomThe receptionist came across as not really caring about what you were saying and was very patronising calling us ‘my darlings’ and ‘lovelies’ which we didn’t really like. She gave us some incorrect information and was not welcoming or that helpful. The Valet staff were amazing though and made the whole visit better!
Great location & amazing views from the room! They had a car valet service which was great as they parked and picked up your car for you whenever you needed. Spacious rooms with comfortable beds and very clean!

United KingdomNo doubt it was written somewhere, but a little disappointed that you charge £10 per person for cooked breakfast, thought it would and should be included.
The room was lovely.

United KingdomAsked for a quiet room, and was perfect as far as internal noise (didn’t hear other guests/staff at all), but the window wouldn’t quite close and there was a seagull’s nest on the roof about 2m away - so the very early morning squawking was not appreciated. Not having easy access to the car - having to park outside the hotel and then hotel staff driving it down to a car park ( very steep steps to get to car) and having to give notice before be able to use the car
Fantastic view over the bay. Large room and bathroom. Good breakfast. Nice to be able to the use the Spa facilities

United KingdomIt’s a little outdated and could do with a refurb as carpets are stained in rooms and within the hotel. Bathrooms have cracks on tiles and bath was chipped and stained. Through out hotel walls need repainting, few plug sockets need replacing the carpets need replacing worn and stained. The bar area that goes on to the decking area needs updating furniture ripped and worn. Shame as location is beautiful but hotel needs updating.

United KingdomThe family room doesn’t have enough storage space for a family. Only one small wardrobe which has the fridge and safe in it, and one chest of drawers. No coat pegs or anywhere to put coats, shoes and bags. Small swimming pool. You can’t really swim in it
Great location with lovely views. Nice food and drinks. Calm atmosphere. Spa facilities are nice

United KingdomThe bed had an uncomfortable line right down middle, it felt like 2 single beds had been put together and the ridge were where the mattresses met. The continental breakfast was lacking with only 2 types of cold meat and 1 cheese selection. The cereals were ok, and the yoghurt/ chia bowls were average. Pastries were good. There were no breakfast rolls or free boiled eggs, which continentals usually come with. If you wanted cooked eggs or cooked breakfast it cost another £10 on top. We queried this as our booking stated breakfast included... thankfully staff rectified this for us and we got 3 days of breakfast without the £10 cost.
Location to train station, beaches and walks was very good. We had a sea view room which was lovely and a good size Spa facilities were good with pretty good opening hours. They have set hours for children, which allowed adults quieter relaxing times. Staff were friendly

United KingdomWe thought the location, staff and facilities were great, however, there was a on-site wedding which had a disco that was incredibly loud and we did not sleep until early hours of the morning, and therefore ruined of purpose of our stay - which was to completely rest and unwind.

United KingdomIt would have been nice to have had breakfast included in the price instead of having to pay extra for a full English or an omelette. Also two room keys for 2 people!
The parking was difficult but not a problem as we parked outside the hotel and the lovely staff parked our car for us. Our room was at the very top of the hotel (Rooms 403 and 404) so we did have to lug our cases up a final staircase as the lift only serviced the floors up the third floor bedrooms. All the staff were super friendly. The bed was comfortable and the room and hotel were very clean. The spa was lovely. We stayed for a wedding being held at the hotel and we had an amazing time!
