V friendly and helpful staff, great food (both dinner and breakfast)

The place is clean, tidy, lovely location a few minutes drive from A1. It’s a nice rural village location and aside from the accommodation has good restaurant and pub and is dog friendly. The food and drink was good quality and cooked really nicely and presented and a CV nice selection of drinks too. The staff are first class and very friendly and polite and helpful and like to check that everything is ok. A lot of places could learn from the staff. First time staying and will definitely use again. Thanks The Woodhouse Arms.

If I am picky the wine list is a little limited/basic. We would normally have enjoyed a bottle or two but struggled with the lack of a decent choice. However the Landlord was a fine substitute!!

Staff were exceptional throughout our stay, notably the waitresses at dinner and breakfast. Food was great tasting and good value.

Lovely spacious self contained unit. Super large comfy bed. Shower took a little working out. But was fine. Brekkie was fab. The only minor neg. Was pre ordering breakfast items the day before. As you may not fancy it in the morning

The window had no blinds so had to have curtains shut most of the time for privacy as people walk past a lot and the pub window is directly opposite. Also the toilet flusher was broken so every time you pressed it the stopper came out and it was quite manky inside when it did.

Absolutely beautiful property. The pub is so cute and cosy. The staff were so nice too. The room was immaculate and the bed so comfortable! The pictures on the website don’t do it justice. It was clean and smelt lovely on arrival.

Location was perfect for us as we were headed to Grimsthorpe Castle. We received a warm welcome after a long 6 hour drive from the South, and were shown our rooms once we were booked in. The room was very comfortable with a lovely large bed and ensuite bathroom, all very spacious. Our hosts reserve a table for staying guests so we ate in. The restaurant was busy with locals alike but the food was scrumptious, beautifully prepared and the staff attentive and friendly. Our second night was our anniversary, and the again the food was delicious, with lovely little touches to make the meal a little more special. Breakfast choice was absolutely superb! We would definitely recommend the Woodhouse Arms as a place to stay and will no doubt be coming back again at some point.

After such a welcome, how could I find fault here.

Welcome! It was almost as good as a HUG. Lovely lady, bouncy, ebullient, excited, and made me feel in the right place straight away. The room was immaculate, beautifully equipped and presented, with a great tea tray with biscuits and hot chocolate to die for. I slept superbly, after a slightly challenging shower. The shower has three modes of operation, one of which is for a bath, but getting the water to come out as you expected and where you expected proved fun. But I did it again before breakfast and was highly satisfied with the result. My night was quiet and I slept comfortably. The WiFi was good enough and I found sockets sufficient to charge my phone, my laptop, my cameras and my bedside alarm. Breakfast was ordered before you went to bed and then cooked to order. It was superb, with quality ingredients beautifully prepared and presented. Not a sign of a self-service buffet with powdered scrambled eggs and cheap baked beans going dry under the heat lamps. I didn't want to leave. I shall come back here for next year's FOTU.
