the online check in never works. you have to fill in loads of forms online, you get a QR code for quick check in, but it never works. staff aren't interested quite expensive for what it is, but location near kings cross makes it worthwhile

It was very central, you could either walk or take the underground right next door. There had lockers for rent, which is great for when you’re waiting to check in and wanna explore London beforehand. There have breakfast/dinner and a bar. I have nothing negative to say, the bathroom was clean NO bad smells, the shower was clean. The bed..I was very surprised, the mattress, blanket and pillow were all white no stains whatsoever. The room had a small sink which was great and the night was quiet too. (5th floor)

I did not like that there was no bedsheet over the mattresses but one loose single sheet to lay on the mattress! so the bed was was not warm. The duvet cover was very light. No major issues.

Enjoyed the room as it felt safe and secure. It was also close to the bathroom and showers which was great. The location was safe as well and close to the stations and other transport. The bar in the hostel was very good and the food was affordable which was great as London can get verry expensive.

While I was sleeping, suddenly the smoke alarm detonated in my room and I got jumpscare. (I was alone and I'm not smoking btw) The reception said that it was happened by MISTAKE. What an irresponsible thing for a guest. Also bathrooms were a bit dirty.

The location was perfect for its price. It's really close to city center, you can take a walk to everywhere in central London. The beds were OK and sheets were clean tho.

The rooms and bathrooms could use a little bit of redo. I was on the 5th floor and my room was a bit far from the bathroom. Maybe a little redo, adding a new bathroom closer to the rooms at the end, on each wing, would be very useful. And it was a little bit cold, at least for me.

I like the location, it's good value for money, the rooms are clean, the staff is very nice and helpful. It's mostly good for groups of students or groups of friends but also for a solo traveller or couples. It has a lot of facilities and the breakfast was very good. Very satisfied overall.

Poor cleaning. No curtains on bunks (it really does matter in mixed rooms). Shower cabin are too much small (1/2 square meter), no hooks and shelves inside…the only way not to wet your towel and clothes while washing yourself is to leave them outside the cabin, and then go out of the cabin naked to dry yourself with a towel and put on the clothes. The problem is that there can be other girls standing near the sink…NOT COMFORTABLE AT ALL! I’ve stayed at 50+ hostels around the world (5 continents) and never saw the hostel where I couldn’t leave my bags after check-out for free! My debit card wasn’t accepted in the luggage room so that I had to go to Gresham hotel to store my luggage there

I booked a private room for me and friend with the expectation that would be more confortable than room with more people but the room was so small for one of us walk in the room the other should be in the bed. The showers were dirty and smelling and the bathrooms were far from my bedroom.

The location is very good, near the underground. Very good cafes around the hostel. The staff was ok but do not expect too much. Good English Breakfast.

Perfect for overnight, only!

For me personally, I found the London Generator location tricky to locate despite having been fortunate to experience this specific social hostel on a previous overnight stay well over 2 decades, ago; speaking of which I can happily confirm that the dingy dorm room I stayed in previously at the London Generator is now a thing of the past, dorm rooms seem much brighter & cleaner, now(obviously been refurbished)! Nice comfortable bed with super clean bed linen, perfect room temperature & a secure,deep ample sized locker drawer to store your belongings(don’t forget your padlock). Given it has been generally been known as a young person’s social hostel I don’t recall hearing anything this time around(I guess the earplugs I brought with me works). Seems to be Good team dynamic needed for hospitality(thanks:).

Toilets were awful! For the whole floor was 4 toilets for guys and 4 showers- 1 broken shower and tiny hard to keep your stuff dry. Water tepid at best. The toilets 2 were blocked and almost over flowing/ they stunk! Ones on the ground floor 1 toilet and 3 urinals - one covered in sick. (It was cleaned in the morning to be fair) but really let the place down for us.

Location is great and we had a 4 bed dorm, bedding smelt super clean and fresh, and beds were comfy

Have stayed at London generator multiple times before, won't be going back. The bathrooms have significantly declined in 2 years, almost always a blocked toilet or 2 plus no toilet paper. Most locks on the toilets and showers were broken or non-existent. The hostel, bathrooms especially, needs a lot of work to get back up to a decent standard.

Location is great, convenient to easy underground trains and close to King's Cross for trains to the airport. Staff were helpful and breakfast is pretty good
