Pool could do with a bit of love and a refurb. Room service menu was quite limited. But what we ordered was lovely

Beautiful surroundings. Morning run was lovely. Breakfast was great. And very spacious room with comfortable bed.

Dining experience was overall poor. We had a cracked wine glass, a bread basket at dinner that comprised 4 bread rolls costing £7 which were the same rolls from breakfast. For a 4 star hotel I’d expect at least an artisan bread selection. The Grain salad had a quarter slice of asparagus and three pieces of beetroot! Very poor. Three apologies followed but no solution. Bar prices on the ‘high side’, gin & tonic was £20. Our room had no fridge, again standard in 4 star hotels, meaning that water left in the room turned tepid over the day. A better guest experience is needed.

Location was great, outside grounds and especially the outside swimming pool were excellent.

Sourdough toast was too hard to cut through! And disappointing selection of ‘add ons’ for cereal, could be more adventurous with dried fruits, nuts and seeds

Best cheese board at a breakfast buffet.

It could be SO much better. Food is average but expensive, service is non-existent around the pool area!

The grounds are spectacular, as is the outdoor pool area and veranda.

My only gripe is that staff didn’t approach us to ask if we wanted drinks when in the lounge.

    Character, history, the grounds.

Quite disappointed about the internal pool facilities. The pool is quite old, not taking care much, and the jacuzzi tub very small and the water was very cold! Not much personnel around the pool, so it’s very self service in terms of towels and keep it clean. Disappointed to find out the sauna were inside the changing room, a very dark room, no light in it, where you felt very claustrophobic. The outside pool in better condition, not as big as pictured, however still very cold water and quite dated.

It’s definitely a great place to unplug from the city, felt a trip back in the past days. A royal venue! We were lucky with the nice weather so we enjoyed lunching outside and walking around the massive gardens. Lovely for a weekend get away.

We had a superb stay in this timeless hotel. You feel constantly waited on by the friendly staff, the food is delicious with plenty to do. We enjoyed walks, bike rides, swimming, and a fantastic high tea. However, my favourite part was relaxing in the lounge area in the evenings with a drink. Overall, it was a relaxing time away.

Fitness area/ swimming pool could do with some updating and tidying.

Staff brilliant- had a mix up with booking which resulted in an upset toddler without a bed at 9pm. Despite it not being the hotels fault, they went out of their way to put it right and even upgraded us which was very kind. Lady running the bar who served our drinks and dinner was lovely and great with our toddler.

The room, which was supposed to be a Superior Classic, wasn’t quite as expected. It didn’t have a bathtub, which made things a bit challenging as we were travelling with our baby. Additionally, the room had a noticeable smell, presumably due to dampness. In hindsight, we’re not sure why we didn’t request a different room. It was our first trip with a baby, and we were probably feeling a little overwhelmed. When we arrived home, we noticed that all our clothes had absorbed the damp smell, which made us regret not mentioning it during our stay. We believe our experience would have been much better had we done so.

WiFi is not the best. Pressure from the shower taps was not good. Whereas the bath was the best flows of water I have ever seen. Breakfast was good and varied. The food need more flavour. Quite bland and not much choice.

The estate. The calmness. The lovely walks. The library. The patios. The high ceilings. The magic of the place.

Whilst we didn't have any treatments, the spa felt a little forgotten although the pool was nice and bright. For the price of the stay I'd have expected better spa facilities.

The room was lovely, slightly dated but as it was one of the main house rooms that felt ok given how large it was and the period features. The bathroom could do with a little TLC. The Dinner was delicious but the staff at dinner seemed a bit disorganised, ordered things that never arrived and saw someones dinner get dropped on the floor. Breakfast was excellent and the staff working that shift particularly helpful and friendly. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed a nice stroll in the morning.

Our room was overlooking the pitched ceiling of the dining room so not such a good view from the window.
