Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFacilities were not the best but appreciate it is relatively low priced in comparison to other local apartments/ hotels. could also smell cigarette smoke in the apartment which contributed to our group opinion on the cleanliness. A further improvement would be for a hairdryer to be added to the amenities available. hand soap could also be added to the bathroom.
Decent value for money and the owner was very flexible with check in time which helped us massively as we had an event on prior to check in time.

United KingdomThe whole apartment building stank of weed, and the shower door was too small so water would leak out of the shower onto the floor.
Simple nice rooms, not a bad location as it isnt too far from town.

United KingdomI like the apartment but there wasn't enough soap in the apartment, in kitchen and inside the bathroom. It could be an oversight but effort should be made to always put it place.
We didn't have breakfast at the apartment. we came with our food to the location. But overall, it is a good apartment that I wouldn't mind revisiting whenever I return to Newcastle.

United KingdomBathroom is very basic but not terrible
The host was great to communicate with, we arrived in to the area a little earlier than the initial check in time and they were very accommodating with this. We were a group of 6 that came to Newcastle for an event so just needed accommodation for one night, very simple but just what we needed and the beds were very comfortable, however a little noisy! Key collection was very easy.

United KingdomSurrounding area not the nicest but still ok. Quite a busy main road and you can hear the traffic at night but again, it didn’t prevent sleep. Could perhaps do with just replacing the odd thing and a little bit of TLC.
We were staying overnight to attend a local festival. Two friends and our teenage daughters. I did have some concerns about possible noise etc having read other reviews and about the cleanliness. We needed to check in early and having spoken to the owner we come to an arrangement and he was very helpful. When we got there, the apartment we were staying in was still being used. what I hadn’t realised was that we’d been upgraded to a different one but the message had only just come in that morning. Wasn’t really a problem though. It was on the top floor and as far as I know there’s no lift so you’d need to specify if stairs are a problem. The apartment was generally tidy and floors had just been cleaned. Met the lady who does the rooms and she was lovely and just told us to make contact if there was anything we needed. Kitchen, 3 bedrooms, bathroom and lounge. It is a little tired and there are things which perhaps could do with replacing and repairing but for the money and for the length of stay it was good value for the money. Bedding was clean and beds seemed reasonably comfortable. could do with better pillows perhaps. When we got back to the flat it was quite cold and radiators weren’t on. I did realise until later though that the boiler was in one of the bedrooms. Perhaps just some sort of notes in the flat would be beneficial for people to read on arrival with details about contact etc. Very basic utensils etc in the kitchen and have to say, we had to wash some of the cups etc before using them as they definitely needed it. Could have done with a tea towel too. Close to bus stop 39, 40 to get into town. All had a good nights sleep and no noise at all!! Our apartment wasn’t perfect and it’s not hotel standard but it’s not claiming to be and for the money it was just what we needed. Something affordable for the night.

United KingdomIt was cold as we couldn’t work out the heating. My son stayed up and slept on the couch for the first night as we couldn’t turn the television off as he didn’t want to frighten us by leaving the television on with no one around. There was a small leak in the main bathroom which was in the grouting of the floor tiles but couldn’t see where it was coming from.
The accommodation provided was spacious and comfortable for a family of three.

United KingdomIf I were to rate the property, I would say it was 2 star accommodation, i.e. when refurbished it was done on a very modest budget. Not necessarily in a bad way, but there were bits of minor repairs here and there that you might get in a 2 star property. However, on the plus side, you have accommodation for 6 persons at quite a reasonable rate. In essence, if you are travelling to Newcastle as a group and you want value for money, then Westgate Apartments is somewhere worth considering.
Westgate Apartments is quite close to the centre of Newcastle. If you wanted to walk, it's about 25-30mins into the city centre. There is parking outside on the main road, but you might have to move along the street a bit to get a space. The apartment itself was fine. There were clean sheets on the bed and there were clean towels. We had two double beds in the bedroom and one bunk bed in the sitting room. The heating was on constantly, but at a pleasant temperature. There is a kitchen with all the facilities that you might need and the bathroom was as you would expect.
