Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CroatiaThe water heating tank is too small. Made showers really uncomfortable. I believe it’s better in the summer!
A truly charming stay! This beautiful old Istrian villa is full of character, blending rustic charm with modern comforts. The stone walls, wooden beams, and peaceful surroundings made for a perfect escape. We loved relaxing in the space and enjoying. It’s clear the owners take great care of the place, everything was spotless and welcoming. Highly recommend for anyone looking to experience authentic Istria!

SloveniaThere is nothing about this place that I didn't like.
I loved everything about this place. The apartment was very clean, well equipped and extremely comfortable. The stone interior had a wonderful rustic and Istrian feel to it. The location is perfect for exploring Motovun and the surroundings, the free parking was also a welcome bonus. The host was very friendly and communicative. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

SloveniaWe've visited Motovun in December, the flat was very warm, views were amazing, the city is really special. It was very nice to be able to seat next to the fire place, to have a walk around the city and to have morning coffee on the terrace ;)

CanadaFolks may find the steep stairs a challenge if they have mobility issues. We were fine with this though.
The view was spectacular and the setting in a medieval town is amazing. We used this apartment as a base for exploring the northern Istrian region. It was perfect for our needs and we appreciated the well equipped kitchen. Goran was a great host as well and greeted us at the apartment to go over everything.

AustraliaLovely experience to stay in a 300 year old stone building, renovated into a cosy and comfortable holiday retreat. Everything one needs to self-cater was provided. A dedicated car park was 70m away. Location was perfect to explore Motovun and surrounding villages. Our host Goran was very generous (gave us complimentary wine, olive oil and home-made brandy) and helpful. Highly recommend this accommodation.

TaiwanSome people may find it inconvenient to have to carry their luggage up and that the toilet and the room are on different floors, but for us there is no such problem, everything is great!!!

CanadaAbsolutely nothing could have made our stay better! We loved this house!
We absolutely loved staying in this apartment right in Old Town Motovun. As others have said, and as described clearly in the listing, the apartment is on three levels with the bathroom on the lowest. This did not negatively impact our enjoyment - the apartment is so unique and well appointed! The outdoor terrace is a wonderful place to enjoy coffee in the morning or wine in the afternoon! Goran met us at the spot to park our car and then invited us for a drink inside as he shared his story and the history of the apartment. The walk up the stairs/hill to the apartment was as expected and again, part of what we loved about this authentic place. Goran gave good suggestions as to where to eat (did not disappoint) and other towns we may wish to visit during our stay (again, did not disappoint). Thank you, Goran, for being such a gracious host and making our stay in Motovun top notch!

United Statesthe bathroom is on the ground floor and the bedrooms on floors 3 and 4 with steep stairs in between. not ideal for those who need to potty in the night…….
spread over 4 levels, the apartment has everything you need. the dedicated parking space and nearby pool were wonderful features. we enjoyed the rustic touches paired with modern amenities. the decorating had many little discoveries in the nooks and crannies which were fun. our host was very friendly and enjoyed telling us all about the town and nearby places to visit. recommend sturdy walking shoes for the steep streets and passages up to the top of the town where the restaurants and little shops are located..

CroatiaThe main photo of the property shows the pool, and the description/filters categorize it as a house with an outdoor pool. However, the pool is in fact around 150m away from the property, located in front of another abandoned house, accessible only via extremely steep and sliding stone path. There are no visible signs or instructions how to reach the pool, and in the night the entire path is completely dark, including the pool itself, as there is no outside lighting in front of the ruin where it is located. I would definitely not book this property if the concept of the house and the pool was clearly explained/laid out in Booking. As far as interior is concerned, the ladders going to the gallery are extremely steep and loose and there are no electric outlets in the bathroom nor the gallery.
