Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe convoluted 3 stage process of unlocking 3 doors with the third being plunged into darkness as the timer expired on the “ foyer” light. We had to download an app from an email sent late, electronically open the door to the building, climb upstairs and down again just to get to the second door which the app could not open. 20 minutes later a lady from another apartment opened the second door with a large key. Then the third door. Subsequently we had three keys.

Great location, that was close enough to all the historical sites, but far enough to escape the busy areas.

MaltaThe lighting in the room was poor in contrast to the photos used to promote the accommodation. The room is in the basement and for some decent lighting and circulation, the windows and blinds of the room and restroom would have to be kept open but this would mean having zero privacy to those walking up and down the street! The noise was also an issue. We could hear close to all movements and talking of guests in the nearby rooms (and I'm certain they could say the same for us so we kept things as quiet as possible). Building itself is quite old as well but would not be a deciding factor. Room did not have an AC which would have caused second thoughts if we stayed in Rome just a month later.
Location was great and it was easy to get around using the bus with several bus stops close to the accommodation. Host was extremely helpful and friendly and provided us with some recommendations and was quick to answer any of our queries or requests. Self-check in is also easy as long as one has access to Whatsapp. Check in involves making use of an online link to open the apartment door and then a set of keys for the room within. Mobile data struggled but thankfully the Wifi worked perfectly.

location is great, the room was spacious, clean, warm, and comfy The Internet is fast everything you need for a comfy stay.

PortugalAlthough there was a fan, the weather was really hot. It would benefit to have an A/C
Nice sized room, fairly decent bathroom with shower and big window to an inside patio. Nice to have microwave, refrigerator plates, cups and silverware, although it is not a proper kitchenette. Working WI-FI, comfortable bed and pillows. Nice quiet location, at close walking distance from the major tourist points, restaurants and minimarket

UkraineThere were some reconstructions outside or something like that. We could not sleep in the morning due to the loud noise from the street! Except of this be aware that this place is in the basement
Hostess was very nice. I needed to have an iron to have an excellent look for my first important event in Rome, but iron was not there. So, she interrupted her weekend and brought me a new iron in the same evening!

United StatesI had problems with the shower temperature and couldn’t always get warm water. The swamp cooler didn’t work great. Since I don’t have WhatsApp we didn’t the check in instructions before we arrived and there’s no way to figure it out without that information.
It was pretty nice inside. The location was pretty good, although the more trusty Metro (buses aren’t very reliable) is a 15 min walk away. Alessia was very help once we got in contact with her.

United KingdomThis is not a bed and breakfast, and shouldn’t be advertised as such. It is an airbnb apartment. It’s a Roman apartment which has been divided into four “mini apartments” which are self contained. They have a shared entryway which requires an app to unlock. As the apartment is in the basement we didn’t have connection to open the door at first. If I was travelling alone I’m not sure I would have been able to get in without help. There help is only via phone. They are helpful but it didn’t meet the expectation through booking.com or a bed and breakfast.
The property was clean and compact. For the price it was good. The owners were kind enough to let us store our luggage in the communal space. The location is decent.

SpainNothin that worth mentioning. It was all as good as expected.
The place is well located in a quiet neighbourhood near the Coliseum. It was all I needed: a clean room with a confortable bed; perfectly clean linen and a private bathroom. It was nice to have a kettle, coffee and tea. You'll also find dishes, cutlery and a minibar, all clean and in working condition.

Czech RepublicIt was hard to find the apartment in the building, apparently it's in the basement. There is no air conditioning.. tho there's an electric fan, but still it doesn't help with the heat. It was really hard to sleep during our 4 nights there while it's 37°C in Rome in the evening. Even opening the window doesn't give help as the apartment is in the basement, hence, there's not much air coming in, reason why it's quite smelly inside. Kitchen also is lacking of things. Toilet doesn't have a proper ventilation and shower has molds.
Self check-in was easy and the owner is nice. The location of the apartment is close to Colloseum - can be walked for not more than 20 mins. Apartment is newly renovated with some basic things you need such as refrigerator, stove, cabinet, sofa.

South AfricaWifi was poor/not working. Wrong room because we had no garden view. We were underground and could see cars when we looked up. We could not open the curtains because people walking in the street looked down on us. Smelley in the foyer. Space limited in the room. No kettle. Wash basin cracked. Shower very small and nowhere to put soap. The fan is very cheap and does not cool properly. Unit not properly clean. Lots of flies in the room. No musquito nets
