Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

MaltaThe room I was given was extremely small (approximately 3x3 meters), leaving no space for two people to move comfortably. All the furniture was crammed against the walls, with no adequate room for luggage, which is far below any reasonable hotel standard. Upon reviewing the room layout map, it was evident that this was the smallest room in the property, despite my booking indicating otherwise. Given the unacceptable conditions, I had no choice but to leave the hotel at night and look for alternative accommodation. This caused significant stress, inconvenience, and additional expense.

United KingdomBooking.com completely let us down by failing to secure our original booking in central Rome, then putting us in this awful hotel an hour from the city center. We ended up paying for taxis every day, and honestly, for such a big company, it’s shocking that they have zero control over their hotels. In the end, all their rep, Michael, could do was apologize while we were left out of pocket and our holiday—planned a year in advance with leave taken from work in the UK—was ruined. An absolute disgrace. The room was spacious with a balcony, but the carpet was filthy and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in ages. Breakfast was a joke—just bread, butter, and jam. Worst of all, the plumbing was a nightmare. The bathroom reeked of sewage 24/7, and even with the door shut, the stench was unbearable, keeping us awake for three nights. When we complained, the staff admitted the owner knew about the smell but chose to ignore it to cut costs. I’m not writing this review out of spite—I just don’t want anyone else to suffer like we did with Booking.com and this awful hotel. Imagine landing after midnight, only to find out your booking was canceled while you were still in the air. No place to go, stranded in a foreign city. This is the nightmare we faced, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
The staff are friendly, but there really should be a 24/7 receptionist. By 10 p.m., all the staff are gone, and the hotel turns into a ghost town. I honestly don’t understand how this place got a high rating—it definitely doesn’t deserve it.

Czech RepublicDirty carpet in the room - The staff has not been using a vacuum cleaner for a very long time. Despite we booked a room with separated beds, we received a room with a double bed. The area the hotel is located in is horrible and unsecure. We parked our car in the hotel parking courtyard with fence and gate, but still the car was robbed during night, ended up with broken rear door window, and things were gone. The staff helped us to contact local carabinieri station, but shortly after they accused us that we arrived with the window already broken and we made the whole thing up. I strongly do Not recommend this place.
Bed was clean and comfortable, but this is the only + I can mention regarding this hotel.

GermanyDear Sir/Madam, I booked a room for two guests (my cousin and her husband) for 4 nights (12-16 Oct.) at Cervara Park Hotel (Confirmation: 2107846544). The hotel's safe box was broken, and therefore they had hidden their money at the top of the closet. On 14th when they checked their money, 850 Euro plus 300 dollars was stolen. The strange thing is that the people at the reception were not cooperating at all. They said they could not contact the hotel manager because it was Saturday. They had a camera installed on top of the door's room, and it was easy to see who went inside that room during that time except for the guests. However, the people at the reception brought up some excuses that they could not figure out who went inside the room. They were not responsive and closed all the ways to contact the hotel manager. We tried several times via email and phone, but they always refused to respond. I called them personally several times, and they hung up the phone on me. Therefore, the guests reported the issue to the Police and documented everything. This is an unusual case; first, why the safe box is broken in a 4-star hotel? second, why can the guests not contact the manager? and why the reception desk refuses to help them out? Please let me know how I can follow up on this case. Best, Behnood
The WiFi and the beds were good.
