How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Noise from other rooms. We could hear loud when doors to other rooms were opened/closed. The TV is installed in a strange position. For us was not relevant as we did not spend too much time in the room.
Clean room, good bed. Fridge. Very nice staff. Good location, close to train station, metro, buses, walking distance to downtown and other places.

Location was great and staff were really friendly and very helpful. Rooms are basic and slightly dated but was fine for a 3 night stay. Everything was mostly clean. Bathrooms are very small, and the shower was broken/temperatures were all over the place, blasting boiling hot then cold. Beds were comfy and amenities were fine.

Good location, very secure with something from the government in front of the building. Easy access to metro and buses. Room was good, warm, good shower and good bed.

The internet was excellent the first part of the stay (7 days), then something happened.
The room was a little bit dark and one of the smallest at the hotel (larger rooms were with double-bed), but for the price it is was excellent value. Clean modern bath, cleaning of the room everyday. Electric kettle and small refrigator at the room. No breakfast, but excellent breakfast is available just outside the hotel at a café. The hotel is surrounded by excellent restautants.

Would have liked to have breakfast provided. Room was small but adequate.
Really appreciated pot for boiling water and tea and coffee. Our room was on the street and noisy if window open. No breakfast. Great location walking distance to train station.

Reception and staff good. Room with a window we could open for fresh air. Nice place if you need a room as a base. Street not too noisy when window open. Location excellent for our purposes. We were able to leave our luggage on the last day for late pick-up to airport. Man at the desk was very helpful and friendly. 10 our of 10 to him!

A bigger wardrobe with shelves would be good.
The stuff is very friendly and helpful. Location is good - walking distance to most places. Close to the metro station (if you need to quickly get to the Vatican).

The hotel room walls are very thin. I could hear everything happening in the neighboring room very clearly, including the TV program and even how many times they used the toilet or shower. Earplugs might have been useful to block out the noise.
Very good location, just a few minutes from Termini Station or Republica Metro. The area is excellent, within walking distance from the city center. It is very safe. The hotel room was very clean, seeming recently renovated. Cleaning was done daily, with towels changed every day. Rebecca from the recepion was very nice and welcoming.

despite what some reviews said I didn't find the location that convenient for bars and restaurants and the walk to all the main sites of interest is at least 20 minutes
We had a large room with a comfortable bed, a good bathroom and a window overlooking the street as well as a mini fridge which is always good for when you've been travelling for a while.
