When we made the reservation several months ago, we didn’t know it was part of the Small Luxury Hotels collection, we discovered it upon arrival and were very pleased, as we are members as well. Amazing rooms carved into the rock, relaxing atmosphere and delicious breakfast with local products. Plus, the location is perfect for getting around Matera on foot. A must try at least once in a lifetime!

The room was not the same as the photos on booking.com when I told them the manager told me that the photos are general of a category of room and she got upset when I told her that I will leave the hotel if they don't give me the room I saw on booking . Finally they changed the room to a better one but not the one I have booked

Valet parking does not work well. Waited over 45 minutes for the car and the pick-up to the valet parking location didn’t show up. Had to pay and book a taxi to receive the car myself. Second valet parking experience was still with a 20 minute delay. Plan a lot of time if you need to access your car. I would advise the hotel to switch valet parking operator or invest in the hotel’s shuttle service.

Extra charge for eggs at breakfast, in-room fridge did not work, limited menu for expensive dinner in restaurant. Didn't quite live up to expectations. Expensive paking option.

Breakfast was in an amazing restaurant , catering to all needs. It also was a great location to have an amazing dinner and watch the sunset over Matera. Great location but a 15 min walk into the heart of Matera , shuttle bus available if required. Rooms were very modern and clean.

The whole hotel facility and how it was set up was great. Our room was so tastefully decorated and beautiful, the view from our patio was amazing. The breakfast was fantastic with a great choice of food. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location was excellent, so close to everything but quiet. Highly recommended.

The rooms are dark not well lite. As you are in a cave like room it will be darker than you expect. Just something to note. Staff are not particularly accommodating.

Matera is amazing. This property is very nice, great location and the rooms are unique. Lovely location to explore from. Beautiful breakfast room and delight breakfast buffet. Luggage assistant is remarkable.

We had a wonderful three night stay at the Sant ‘Angelo in Matera. Our room was fantastic with amazing views of the Sassi region of Matera. The staff at the hotel could not do enough for us. They were truly exceptional from the member of staff who carried our luggage up a number of steps to our room in the heat to the breakfast staff who greeted our every request with a smile. The Sant’Angelo is an exceptional hotel and I thoroughly recommend a stay here.
