Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Very bad breakfast (terrible coffee, one old stiff croissant, 1dl of juice-only if you ask, no watter). Noiz from street. Comunication - too much sms (some things need to be said once or twice, not “ten “ times). Really clean apartment.

Lift is extremely small and old There are steps in the apartment that have a black strip but unfortunately it matches the decor colour I had a fall and luckily no serious injuries

The water was horrible, the kettle was an old one with limescale on the element. luckily for me I had my travel kettle with me and used bottled water. The elevator was antiquated and was small. It would be awful for anyone who is claustrophobic. The breakfast was nice but minimal and one of the waiters was unpleasant and arrogant. The restaurant is a short walk from the hotel.
The room was given a good clean each day, bed was comfortable and room is secure.

A bit confusing trying to get access to get in the building and then the apartment itself - every communication is via WhatsApp so feels a bit remote.
Location was good, room tidy and comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

This is not a 4* hotel. It used to be a huge apartment which is converted to renting property. The pictures were taken a few years ago. It is in much worse condition than in the pictures(still really clean). The price is according to other accommodations around.
It's clean, and the location is great. Everything is within walking distance. We used public transport only for the Colosseum. We communicated with the host only through Whats App and the cleaner who came every day. The communication was great, and we didn't have any issues.

Quite a small room but that was clear when booking
Amazing location, walking distance of all the key sites. Great breakfast at a local cafe (recommend the pistachio croissant!). The staff were amazing, we accidentally got locked out on our last day and they were really responsive and helpful to get us back in.

The breakfast offered is located externally at a bar on a nearby square and it consists of nothing but croissant and a cup of coffee which is way below standard. Furthermore the room we stayed looked quite worn down, the bed was also not as comfortable as you would expect at this price level.
Location was great, close to most major tourist attractions. The area is not too noisy at night, for Roman standards. Nice bathroom with rainshower.

The pull out couch was incredibly uncomfortable, shower head leaked and was mould on the ceiling. We probably would have also enjoyed having a second set of keys to be able to split up and do more of our own thing as a group of 4 adults.
The location of the accommodation was great & so was dealing with the staff.

I thought it was going to be a hotel with a proper check in desk and more facilities. I think the advertising should be clearer to clarify this. There is also no left luggage facility- you have to pay extra for this and there is also quite a lot of liaison over the check in. The walls are also quite thin so you can hear other guests.
The location was the best thing about the appartment. It was very central and for central Rome it was good value.The staff were also very helpful.

Bed was not that comfortable and the traffic noise was really loud.
Excellent location 30 minutes walk to either Vatican or colosseum. Central to walk to Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps etc. Breakfast was a coffee and croissant at a restaurant 5 minutes walk away. Close to taxi stand and grocery store.
