Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe had an excellent time at this hotel in Atami. I booked 2 twin rooms for myself and a couple of family members for 2 nights in the Ocean Wing part of the hotel with half board included (Japanese breakfast and dinner) and we were very happy with our stay. Amazing things about the hotel we liked: - Fantastic sea view from everywhere from the hotel, including our rooms and the terrace on the reception floor - The hotel staff were very friendly and polite to us throughout. - Great real hot spring baths, including open air ones - Atami is one of the best Onsen places in Japan. There are private baths you could book too. - Japanese dinner (inclusive) was amazing with lots of local fish and vegetable ingredients dished with such beauty and intricacy. - Japanese breakfast (inclusive) was also great. - They accommodate vegetarians very well for breakfast and dinner. - They offer a shuttle bus service to and from Atami station. - Atami is less known to overseas tourists so there is an authentic feel to it. We stayed here to visit Hakone, which isn’t far on the train. There are lots of interesting small traditional shops in the town. - You get a discount voucher for drinks etc for skipping room cleaning. Things to note: - Main onsen baths are traditional ‘naked’ public baths (you could book a private one however) - The hotel complex is massive so it takes a bit of time to get used to what’s where. - For us, inclusive breakfast and dinner were Japanese and a prefixed menu. There are other restaurants in the hotel including a French one I think. - You can’t easily walk down to Atami town so it’s best to use a taxi or a shuttle bus. The beach in Atami is very tiny. We would really recommend the hotel! :)

AustraliaWhen we booked, we were attracted by the buffet dinner in the grand dinning room, turned out we were serving a set dinner, it was high quality but not what we expected. Should have more info on that.
The room has a beautiful view of the ocean, many spa to choose, free shuttle is convenient.

United StatesThere was a definite language barrier even with Google Translate. Our dinner (half board rate) was not what we'd reserved, but got the meals figured out by the second morning.
A truly authentic Japanese experience. The onsens are great. We were the only Westerners at the resort. We kept our windows open so we could hear the ocean all night. The onsens are separated by gender. There is an option for a private onsen that we did not choose. No need for swim suits.

CanadaToo much walking. I stayed at the horizon wing of the hotel and in order to go for meals I have to go to the lobby, walk ~6 minutes to the ocean wing then take another elevator to 2/f. I personally don't have waking issue but I would imagine it would be very hard for people have even slight walk issue.
Restaurant is huge like cruise ship. (Feel like that's the theme of the design.). A lot of selection of food and drink. Room size is also huge. Lots of facilities. There is a whole floor just for retro games and prize machine. (Not sure what's it is call. Put in a token, play it then win a figure or doll.)

JapanIt’s not a roadblock (can also be seen maybe as a plus) but facility is not new, very 90s vibe in the decoration and equipments such as pool and onsen.
Very nice, friendly and careful staff. Quality of breakfast and dinner included in “half board” offer was way above our expectations. Fantastic sea view from our room in Horizon wing.

ChinaDespite the modern design of visual systems, the hardware inside the hotel fails to match a luxury hotel I planned to meet. The AC in room, for example, was not very effective. The room service seems to be limited as I didn’t find many in the guide, the mainstream seems to be of a self-help manner, and the facilities are centralized. Hence very often, you have to stay within certain public spaces shared by many people. During the time slot that the devices are not available, it will be a little dull.
The entire hotel is good looking, well-located and has a nostalgic atmosphere with proper decorations and stuff. Multiple bathing facilities provide diverse experiences. The breakfast and buffet at night is far beyond expectations, especially when they are included in the fee of accommodation. The number and quality of dishes served are very impressive. The experience at french restaurant Bonheur is great. The service was professional and the menu is tasty leveraging multiple local ingredients.

United StatesThe breakfast and dinner was a buffet style, which wasn’t specified in the listing. And because the hotel was so crowded it felt like I was back in school. I was only able to eat about 25% of the dinner and Breakfast so kinda upset about that.
The room was huge and had a beautiful view of the sea. So we were able to see the waves crashing and going into the underground caves.

CanadaBathroom tap in room could be cleaner. Checked in at horizon, noted no welcome drinks. Feels stuffy as it heydays were long gone however it was worth staying the night before heading to more a more luxurious ryokan. For the experience it was worth it.
Scenery was great, food choices were plentiful, very basic hotel, dated. Value for money. Early chkout but we left the bags there and wondered around the night Property. Difficult to maintain such a hug Property, unlike the Japanese to not upkeeping it well.

JapanThe futon beds were hard, and the sizes of the bathroom and toilet were too narrow. The room was lit by a single ceiling light nor was there a bedside light to read by.
The facilities were excellent, the staff efficient, courteous and helpful. The ocean view from the room and the onsen or hot springs bath was great. The variety and quality of meat, fish and vegetables offered at dinner and breakfast buffet were excellent.
