Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaHotel eco cleaning policy is to change towels and collect trash only. They only make up the room upon request for over 2 nights stay.
Excellent location, walking distance to morning market, red brick factory and JR station.

Australiait's a huge complex...seems like 3 hotels in one. Once we found our way around it was fine.
Great location in center of Hakodate, walking distance to great restaurants and train station (and city tram). Parking right in back of hotel. Standard, good quality modern hotel rooms with very comfy beds. Nice onsen on top floor (women's one was very crowed, as it's small relative to size of hotel) with nice views. Buffet breakfast was enormous and incredibly diverse. Super friendly and helpful staff. Ice and vending machines convenient on our floor.

ThailandThere're lots of things we loved about this place; 1) Room - very comfortable, spacious, and the bed was so good, we slept once we tucked ourselves in the blanket! 2) Food - we loved Japanese bento and your breakfast made us smile! 3) Public Bath - after a long walk, once we dipped ourselves in it, all fatigue washed away!

AustraliaThe main tower has lovely rooms. Fortunately, I was moved after issues with the room I was originally allocated. The room had a bigger than average bathroom for Japan with a nice big bath. Lovely views.

Fantastic location. Close to the key attractions like Motomachi, Hakodate Ropeway, Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses and Hakodate morning markets as well as good public transport to the further out attractions like Goryukaku Tower and Star Fort. I was worried it might be the worst of both worlds for access but I was wrong. It is the best of both worlds. The property is modern, clean, spacious and well appointed. Great onsen on the 13th floor with views out to the port/sea area and Mount Hakodate. I'd definitely stay here again.

SingaporeThere was a tax for the usage of the Onsen which wasn’t explicitly mentioned anywhere or during the check-in process.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here during winter. The location was really great and the staff were really incredible and hospitable! As it was my first time in Hakodate, the stay here really helped to make me feel more welcomed!

CanadaI do hope they tell us whether we got the newer rooms or the older rooms, all the promotional materials shows the newer building yet we got put into the older rooms, which felt unfair.
The hotel is really close to JR Hakodate station, so that is really nice for travelers arriving by Shinkasen. It have a bus stop directly outside, which can take you directly to the cable car for Mt.Hokodate. The streetcars is a street away, and there are a few fishermen's markets and convenience stores nearby. Very good location. It is also closed to a few attractions like the Red Bricks Warehouse, the ice breaker ship, and western-styled buildings near Mt.Hokodate. The facilities are pretty new but we did get the older rooms, it is still clean and comfortable but like all other Japanese hotels, it is pretty cramped. The single bedrooms are good for two but not great. What is great is the breakfast, which is fantastic, I do recommend going as early as possible to avoid the lines. The onsen is great, has a great view. Overall, it is a good option to stay at for a quick one-night stand in Hokodate.

United StatesThe wi-fi connection dropped frequently, especially as we moved around in our room. The room was also quite warm, meaning we needed to open the window (in the winter) to keep the room at a reasonable temperature. The onsen water was a little on the salty side, leaving a bit of residue as it dried on my skin. Finally, the outside onsen is only available on the men's side, and the temperature fluctuated quite a bit during the day.
The hotel is well located - a little bit of a walk from the station, but reasonably easy to get to from various tourist sites. There is also a bus stop right in front of the building. The staff were all very professional as well.

SingaporeToilet, breakfast and staffs are very stressed. Very little warmth you will receive at the reception. Hotel location is a far walk from the JR line. About 10-15 mins walk. Now try that in winter with heavy snow fall.
Rooms are relatively small in Hakodate area. Was a little letdown compared to nearby hotels especially the toilet. The sky lounge is great looking at the port especially the night view. Too many tourist and way too crowded. Forget having breakfast in the hotel. The lines are like those prisoners que you see in movies. Too many tourist some way too rowdy, some are like they have ate in ages, others are afraid the restaurant would run away.

CanadaThe AC in our first room didn't work. After we were moved to a new room, the AC worked, but it only seemed to blow warm air. I'm not sure if this Is standard for Hokkaido, since it can get quite cold, but we found it a bit uncomfortable. Our room always felt a bit too warm. Not a huge deal, but the West side of the building that hadn't been renovated looked quite old and dated. The East side of the building looked much nicer and cleaner.
The hotel's location was very convenient. It was a short drive from Hakodate Airport, and walking distance from the fish market, a grocery store and restaurants. It was also close to Hakodate Station and we travelled to key locations like Goryokaku Park and Mt Hakodate easily and quickly. We used the spa to get messages. The service was great and the staff were very kind and helpful. When we first arrived we were given a room on the West (older) wing of the hotel. The AC in our room was broken and there was a huge moth in the closet. We told the front desk and they quickly moved us to another room on the East (renovated) side of the building. We had to switch from a double bed to two singles, but the room ended up being more spacious, which was fine for us.

AustraliaNothing in particular. As it's well located and has good facilities, the hotel seems to attract many tour groups so that late afternoon times are very busy around the lifts and there can be waits for breakfast at one of the restaurants. So if an early start is needed for the day, having breakfast from opening time would be advised.
Location was convenient, a short walk in a straight line from the railway station. Staff were helpful. Several options for good breakfasts within the hotel. Beds were comfortable. Storage space for clothes was available in the room. Bathroom worked well. We enjoyed several expeditions during the two full days we enjoyed Hakodate. Walking out of the hotel and away from the station quickly led us to converted buildings now housing many dining options, local produce for sale etc. The waterfront area is busy and attractive. Further exploration led to older parts of the city with a great mixture of architecture. We chanced upon a small shop selling attractive ceramic items. If it had been earlier on that day, we would have ascended the mountain but the weather looked uncertain.
