Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe first night’s dinner menu was a little crazy. Too many things going on with flavor profiles that we thought were strange. The second night’s dinner (Italian inspired) was MUCH tastier. We felt a little sorry for the guests who were only staying one night and got the strange first menu. The bakery items were so delicious, I wish we had the opportunity to have more of them at breakfast!
Wonderful hotel. Appreciated the history and philosophy behind the revitalization of the area. We loved the private onsen in the room. The croissants from the bakery were the best we’ve ever had!

SingaporeBecause it’s located in a nice quiet area, this means, it’s not near the curry centre. I wished they provide shuttle to the city centre or to the bus stop on the main road

My second trip in the last year. And I’ll be back again next year. Great helpful staff, wonderful setting. I love all of the book. And especially the care of presenting local food with great expectations of what you are eating. By the way their Macha donuts at their bakery are wonderful. I also took home a few bags of their special granola. Wish I’d brought more. I’ve been to Japan well over 20 times I highly recommend this lodging.

AustraliaLeaving- we stayed 2 nights and it was wonderful. 3 nights would be even better!
We booked this Ryokan/Hotel as a final treat to end our 1 month stay in Japan. Everything about this stay was exceptional! The facilities, the staff, the location. Particular highlights were- the spacious luxurious room, the restaurant meals (with seasonal, local produce) the provision of lovely Yukata, the complimentary drinks and snacks, the private onsen bath (which is all natural spring water straight from the source with no chlorine added) spectacular mountain views of the northern Alps, and amazing care and attention to all the little details.. Exploring the onsen town was magical, with beautiful autumnal walking tracks up the mountainside and little cafes and shops - surprises around every corner. The check-in process was a delightful journey- invited to check in at 12 and to enjoy the cafe and bookstore (cleverly transformed from the old public onsen- keeping baths and shower stands repurposed into reading pits and book displays). This is the perfect place to come to unwind and just be.

Hong KongStreets are a bit narrow to drive. Parking is not on site. But glad to have front desk staff and driver to show us parking lot and check in cafe is so cozy.
Hotel has a long and interesting history with a public library. The redeveloped properties are so stylish in decor and room size is good enough with private bath. Staff are very helpful and offered us a welcome drink. Our package is half boarded and it is a great surprise to have a western menu of local ingredients. The restaurant is nicely decorated. It is open kitchen with wood fired stove. The dish presentation is very nice and food quality is superb. Souvenir shop inside Alps Bakery are selling nice goods, cutlery, crockery. It is a very pleasant stay for 5 of us. I would recommend people visiting Matsumoto to try this modern onsen hotel.

CanadaNot a huge issue but there was not much to see or do within walking distance. We spent our time relaxing at hotel and onsen.
Everything! Place was gorgeous and modern. We enjoyed the dinner and breakfast, they catered to our specific dietary requirements and you can tell the ingredients were fresh. Private onsen was amazing as well.

GermanyOverall everything was great and the staff was genuinely nice, but it comes with a price.
I stayed here for one day and was overall quite happy. The food was really good and on a level I did not exspect. It was also my first time drinking sake which I enjoyed greatly. Having an Onsen in your room made it quite special.

GermanyOnly a slight note on the dinner: we expected a more traditional Japanese meal like kaiseki, at least for one evening. Over all the dinner was focussed on western style kitchen, what I didn’t expected and which don’t really fit in the Hotels main focus imho. But besides of this , the quality of the ingredients were excellent.

United StatesWe had the multi course seasonal Kaiseki dinner our first night. It was beautifully presented but challenging for our western appetites, and we had a hard time finishing.
Really unique adaptive reuse of a former bathhouse in a charming suburb of Matsumoto. Sublime library theme worthy of instagram. Refined ambiance and wonderful private onsens on the terrace made the stay very special. Complimentary drinks and snacks were available, and Yukatas to wear around the facilities if you choose. Check-in was at the bakery and included a welcome drink and snack. Overall, it was a wonderful stay.

United StatesFantastic facility with spacious rooms, an excellent restaurant, and books everywhere! Wonderful staff. We very much enjoyed our balcony hot springs bath overlooking the hills to the west and especially appreciated the hotel's free shuttle ride we took to Sawando, where we caught a bus to Kamikochi (which was amazing, definitely worth a visit). Just a delightful hotel. Please note, the hotel is outside Matsumoto's town center, so you'll want to take a bus or call a taxi to visit the sights, like the Castle.

AustraliaAdored our stay at the Jujo. We stayed in the garden twin room annex - we loved overlooking the nearby mountain and the onsen in our room was divine. The food was excellent, particularly the first night. The library nook is also a perfect little quiet oasis. Just a completely relaxing three night stay.
