Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaIt was all great 😊
Where do I begin It was like a home away come home. Stephen and his lovely wife Sarasa could not have been more welcoming. All the staff are so lovely. I loved being able to have an onsen at any time I wanted which was usually around 5 am while the kettle was boiling in the dining area. So when I had finished I could have my tea😊 I do bring my own milk from Aus so I was able to keep it in the kitchen I like to make my time away feel as homley as possible There was ample food for breakfast and you eat while the fire is burning at the other end of the dining 💕 Such a great way to start your day I also ate in a few nights for dinner and the food Sarasa served was delicious ,and beyond what I expected ✨✨why go out if I could eat in. There are 2 log fires so throughout the lodge you can smell that device scent of a winter fire which just adds so much to a winter holiday. The communal areas are huge and very easy to find a corner nook to get cosy in, and not feel like you have to partake in conversations with others if you don’t want to. There is a piano and I wish I played as every time I walked past I wanted to have a crack at It The location is great, literally a 5 min walk to Echo land Shuttle available in the mornings if you want from the lodge which is very convenient and busses back drop you close by, just a few minutes walk back I have been going to HAKUBA now for 11 yrs to ski and staying else where so this yr was a new one for me I needed a change and it it turned out just fabulous 🥳 I will definitely be coming back to stay Thanks again to all of you ✨✨✨

AustraliaNothing to complain about at all.
I’m reluctant to let everyone know what a fabulous experience we had, out of fear that we won’t get a booking next time we head to Hakuba. Snowlines goes the extra mile for their guests, making all feel welcome. Geared towards those who are skiing or boarding- it’s ideal! Steve and Surasa know what they’re doing and it shows. Delicious breakfast, shuttles are provided to the ski fields each morning and there is a bus stop out the front, and others within walking distance. The facilities are clean and comfortable, an onsite bar that’s reasonably priced and well stocked. Warm, extremely clean and comfortable-The lodge is an environment you are happy to spend time in when not on the slopes. Dining in options were offered and fabulous! Excellent communication, Lots of extra services available at a reasonable cost, we left feeling well looked after and disappointed we couldn’t stay longer.

The location was perfect - close to restaurants and easy access to the slopes. The accommodation was spacious, clean, comfortable, and homely. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast and restaurant dinners at the lodge were absolutely delicious. We got to taste beautiful Japanese food and our son with coeliac disease was also well catered for. Our whole family (with four teenage children) thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we will definitely be returning.

Everything was absolutely amazing! Great location- within walking distance of Happo and Echoland. We were greeted at the station and felt very welcome at the lodge by all the lovely staff. Room was really comfortable and we really enjoyed the onsen after skiing! Food was amazing throughout - thank you for the lovely breakfasts everyday. Wonderful family feel to the place with personal touches. Nice areas to chill out by the fire. Boot room was so good. Transfers to the resorts every morning and advice on conditions in each resort was extremely useful. Will definitely recommend to friends and family and come again if we are in Japan!

AustraliaPossibly the only thing I didn't like was the lack of storage space for clothes. We were there for 6 nights and after living out of our suitcases our room was very messy. An extra shelf or two, or a set of drawers or some cube storage would have been great and not taken up much space.
What can I say about Snowlines that doesn't sound like I'm just gushing about our wonderful stay here? Maybe it was the time of year (Early March), there weren't too many people about so that was great for us personally, however in general the owners Stephen and Sarasa go above and beyond for their guests. We were made to feel very welcome, picked up from the bus station, given a walking tour of the facilities, shuttle to ski fields provided in the mornings, breakfast buffet was always tasty, they had nightly meal options to opt into and if not they had plenty to say about local restaurants and could even facilitate a booking for you. The room we stayed in was the Japanese style, so we had separate futon mattresses we pushed together. The room was sufficient for space, and there was a toilet and sink also. The bathroom was separate for showering (the on-site onsen was where we went daily). We didn't use the laundry facilities, but they were available. The lodge boasts large common areas, multiple comfortable seating spaces, and a bar that is open every night until 11 pm (if you can stay up that late). The other staff were all very polite and attentive also. The location was fantastic. We did not have a car, utilising the local buses that run in the area from the ski resorts was simple and Stephen even makes sure you know how to get home from every place he drops you off from of a morning. It is a very shirt walk to Echoland where other accomodations, restaurants and some ski retail shops are. There's a bottle ship at the end of the road, too. They just ask that you don't byo at the lodge.

AustraliaPillows was a bit flat for my liking. Other than that every thing was great.
One of the best stay we ever had. The atmosphere was great. We made number of new friends while we were there. The onsen was superb after a day of skiing. It is relatively close to a lot of the restaurants. And some of the shuttle bus stop right outside the lodge.

Great setup, warm and friendly environment and the staff are really welcoming. The lodge is in a great location, just a short walk to lots of spots to eat or have a drink, which the staff at the lodge also help to book in advance (as the fill up very quickly). The lodge offering the free transfers to the ski fields was also a great addition.

AustraliaThe breakfast was a standard western breakfast, with a few cereal and toast options. Juice, tea and coffee. The host also cooked eggs, and varied the offerings daily. We love Japanese food and it would have been nice to have some Japanese options, however what was provided was a high quality, well presented and the hosts were so lovely and accommodating.
