Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

the hotel was a short walk from gotanda station making it extremely easy to hop on the train to your next destination. there was a 7/11 right near the hotel as well as Wendy's and other take away close by. was happy of the location of the hotel

United KingdomThe location is fantastic. Two metres to the stairs for one train line and just across the road to the other. All of the facilities in the room (particularly the washing machine) were brilliant!!

United KingdomThe room was fairly small. I know to expect this with Tokyo and would have been fine for 1 person, but little room for 2 suitcases to fit. Bed was comfy enough with 2 pillows each, though one of these was a beanbag pillow..
The location is fantastic, with a 2 minite walk to Gotanda Yamanote and the Asakusa subway line being directly out of the door. Plenty of shops and restaurants very close by too. Room was clean overall.

New ZealandAt night it was a little seedy around the back streets, with some strip bars.
It was a great location, a short walk to the metro and also around the corner from don quijote, a supermarket and lots of food places. Gotanda is fairly quiet compared to visiting Shinjuku and other areas. It was nice to come back to our hotel after long days and not be dealing with crowds. As it is on the yamamote line, it was very easy and fast to visit all the top tourist areas. It uses the Jonathan restaurant next door, which has an internal access, for breakfast. Very affordable with a hotel meal ticket and unlimited refills. Western and Japanese options. It also has robot service which the kids enjoyed

GermanyThere were some problems with the bathroom, so some in our group had to move to a different room. The view from one of the rooms (a single room) was towards the roof with an air conditioner in front of the window.
The location is very good. There was a 7-Eleven convenience store and a cafe nearby, which was, well, very convenient. The train station Gotanda is also close to the hotel, which made our day trips easy to organise. Overall, a good value for money and fairly close to our favourite destinations within the city. We did not book breakfast, but the hotel has a coffee machine in the lobby, and we made good use of it.

AustraliaWe booked this place for the location, right next to a station and great access to Yamanote line. It was a good stay and well priced given how exorbitant prices are in Tokyo. The reception area smelt like cigarettes and the room was relatively small, but it was good for what we needed for a few days of exploring, and the room was clean.

AustraliaNot much to criticise really. Two of our group have some food allergies and the breakfast wasn't really suitable for them but that's an issue in most places in Japan re gluten and lactose intolerances.
The area of Gotanda is a vibrant hub with lots of eating and shopping options. Train and metro within a 2 minute walk makes it easy to access Tokyo's other places of interest. Very clean rooms although not overly large but we were told this is the case in Japan. A great hotel if you're wanting to explore the city.

AustraliaThe room size, we had nowhere to put Pur suitcases. I actually felt claustrophobic the first night we stayed. Takes a bit of getting used to having such small rooms

AustraliaThe breakfast has limited choices, only four types to choose from and not buffet style. Not necessary to opt for it as there are other eateries around the hotel.
The location is fantastic, close to amenities, closest train station is just 100m away. The other main station is not too far away, it's about 400m away, but has many more train lines to choose from. The room is not big but the design is good, has washing machine in the room for washing.

SingaporeOur first room had mould at the sides of the bathtub and the shower curtain smelt of mildew. We were able to request for a room change (hotel staff was efficient in allowing us to do it immediately), but were fortunate that the hotel was not fully booked during our period of stay. Our replacement room had also a large patch on the carpet -- we could not tell if it was a stain or mould, but having already changed rooms, we decided to live with it.
Well located near Gotanda Station with step-free access at selected exits. Restaurants, pharmacies, and convenience stores within walking distance. Also a short walk to Don Quijote. We liked the washing machine (also doubles as a tumble dryer) which also came with liquid laundry detergent, and that we could loan electronic devices from the front desk (e.g. ionic hair dryer, hair straightener). Daily housekeeping involved a towel replacement and re-lining of bins, which is sufficient as the rooms are generally small. Check-in and check-out was straightforward and quick. Hotel staff also helped us with storing our bags after check-out before our evening flight.
