Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandHumidity was palpable in the unit as is common in Malta. Stairs to multiple levels so note if mobility a challenge.
Historic building on quiet street in a fantastic location just off the main square of Vittoriosa. Close to public transport (2, 3, 4 buses) and a walk to the ferry to Valletta. Great spot to relax away from the hubbub of Valletta but with easy access to it.

United KingdomMy sister in law who was staying with us has problems with steps and found the spiral stone staircase a little difficult to negotiate but managed. Other than that we had no complaints.
Great little place close to the waterfront. Quite quirky. Quite well equipped. We found everything we needed for our stay. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean and tidy.

United StatesI would have liked that the townhouse was cleaned better. There were too many cobwebs along with daddy long leg insects. The doors had too many openings at the bottom which let out the air conditioned air. If you wanted to open the windows, you need to beaware that there aren't any screens, so mosquitoes will come in. We were not too pleased that the toilet tank has a leak and the glass shower enclosure also leaked. We were advised that they knew about the issues and are working on it.
I believe the location is as perfect as can be. The position is not on the main square so there isn't any vehicle noise at night. The townhouse is within a nice and clean neighborhood and just 2 minutes from the square. We had some concerns with some of the features and ounce we voiced them, the maintenance group was there within 2 hours. Very pleasantly surprised.

GermanyThe apartment is quite old and in need of a deep clean overall. Some flies in the house and some mold in the bathroom due to lack of ventilation. The house itself is small and windows cannot be kept open in the evening and night to improve circulation due to insects and cold (in winter/spring). No direct sunlight except for short periods in the morning.
Renald was very responsive and provided all the relevant information before arrival. He also shared tips on what we could do during the trip. The location of the apartment is great and is walking distance to several connections to Valetta and other sites. There are convenience stores located at 5-10 minutes walking distance. The apartment itself is quaint and quite nice during the day with the windows open and with ventilation. We were provided with clean sheets and linen. The bath area door when closed well didn't let any water leak out and the bathroom was spacious. The WiFi was good and there were converters provided in case you forget Malta has different electrical sockets compared to the rest of Europe.

SerbiaThe only thing that we didn't like was presence of the certain smell of the humidity but only on the ground floor (probably because it was the winter time of the year...)
Fantastic location in the historic heart of the town! Beautiful old house - entire apartment traditionally built on few levels connected with nice stone stairs which are giving the apartment the sense of historic value and charm together with wooden blinds on the windows and on the doors of the sweet little terrace for two. I enjoyed my morning coffees on this terrace so much! Kitchen + living room and dinning area are situated on the ground floor, contemporary furnished; bedrooms and bathroom upstairs with really big bed in the 1st floor bedroom. Bathroom spacious, new and clean. Apartment very comfortable. Heating in December was excellent with air conditions on each floor! Also, I have to mention that the employees from the owner`s restaurant were helpful and kind people.

United KingdomThe second bedroom leaves a lot to be desired, it's more like a dungeon than a bedroom. The roof terrace could be a nice area with a bit of work but just seems neglected and uninviting at the moment. And all the cleaning products under the stairs...is it so difficult to build a wee cupboard? I also read in the comments that guests get a discount at the owner's restaurant/bar...sadly no more. There was a complimentary coupon for a drink (small beer or soft drink) when you have a meal.
The location is great, the historic atmosphere of Birgu is charming. Public transport (buses and ferries) within easy reach. Great restaurants in the area, too. The house itself also has its charms, the old style windows and shutters, the spiral stairs and the balcony are lovely. The bathroom is great, as is the main bedroom. The kitchen and dining/sitting area are fine. Communication with the owner is great and he was very quick to sort out a problem we had with a blown electric fuse. I must say, too, that we ate twice at the owner's restaurant and it was fantastic - especially the rabbit stew... delicious.

SerbiaI hope very much that the problem of humidity and strong musty smell was something temporary and will be fixed, because it was a bit of a problem for me. Kitchen utensils were dirty and unpleasant (
I loved our stay in D-House. It is a 3-storey house with one big and one single bedroom, kitchen and washing machine. It is located in a very unique area, on a small and quiet street just 2 min walk to the main square with restaurants, minimarkets and bakery and 5 min walk to the Valletta ferry. Getting the keys and communication with the owner was easy.

Lovely quiet location in a traditional Maltese house. Very spacious and comfortable. Owner also had a restaurant, Dcentre, 2 minutes walk away, which we used a few times for delicious food. 5 minutes walk away from the ferry to Valletta city, bought a weekly pass for only €10.

United KingdomThis house has 2 flaws which have the potential to be really annoying. In the master bedroom there is a Yale lock on the door, but no key is provided so you could lock yourself out if you're not careful. In the single bedroom on the 3rd floor half of the door handle is missing so it is only on one side, again there is the potential to close the door and not be able to open it. Looking at the marks on the door I think this has happened in the past and guests have attempted to jimmy the lock to open the door. This is a simple repair and I'm surprised it hasn't been fixed.
This is a traditional old house over 3 floors located in the picturesque back alleyways of Birgu, close to the main square. The house retains some period features which are a nice touch. I found the kitchen had adequate appliances for the preparation of simple meals. If you don't feel like cooking however the owner of the house also owns a nearby Maltese restaurant for which 2 free drinks tokens are provided in the welcome pack.

United KingdomThere is smell of mold in the kitchen and the colours are so dark that you cannot see the mold easily (the walls are dark grey and dark green, exactly the mold colour). The worst thing was there was construction works opposite to the house and next to the house during my 3 day stay. I was woke up by the noise at 7:30 am in the morning. If you want a chill stay better not to pick this house.
location is very good and you can walk around Birgu at ease and the night scene is beautiful too.

United KingdomThe entire property needs a thorough clean and complete refit. The place is very grubby with an unpleasant smell of dirty drains. There was a heap of dirty laundry left outside on the balcony presumably from previous guests. We had to ask for clean bedding as the sheets on one of the beds were stained and dirty. Rather than being surprised by this and apologising for it the owner made us feel as though we were being unreasonable asking for clean sheets. The door to the shower doesn’t close properly so water leaks out when you shower and there appears to be a leak somewhere close to the wash basin. There is an untidy array of DIY and cleaning equipment stored under the stairs which looks unsightly and creates a poor impression. The lock to the front door is very temperamental and not very user friendly, sometimes it will open straight away and at others it took numerous attempts to persuade it to unlock
