Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsWhat did stay as a bad sign is, that the rooms/bathrooms weren't always cleaned each day. Sometimes 2 days... while people come and go after 1 night... Another thing I think it is needed in the hostel/hotel would be, offering free earplugs against snorring elephants in the room. That part is really terrible and would be really helped and appreciated if there were free earplugs (instead of Haribo's :D if needed). The challenge and luck to be in a room without snorring seagulls is just to low...
I did stayed 2 years ago in the same hotel. What I do like is that coffee+tea are always free at any given time from the machines. I think that this creates a sort of welcoming hospitality where you can just sit, read, do you stuff on the laptop/phone/tablet or chill for a moment. + who doesn't like free warm drinks :DDD Many of the staff are chill and easy, some you prefer not to talk too.

BelgiumWhile some staff were friendly, others were either high or just grumpy. The bed was incredibly hard.

PortugalOnly one towel for person so you need to wash your face with the same towel as you wash your body. A mini fridge would have been a great.
We stayed only one night (private room with a comfy double bed and good cushions). Good value for money, it is as advertised. Coffee machine and cold water available 24/24. Good breakfast, in line with the hotel standards.

IndiaThe room size is too small, too cramped. Cost does not justify the stay. Bathrooms had a smell issue.

SingaporeThe bathroom flooring issue in the first place
The space matched the pictures, what you see is what you get. We had problems with the bathroom flooring and water kept flooding out onto the carpet, which I informed the staff about through the booking.com app. In a few minutes, we were given a new room. I appreciated this prompt response and solution to my family & I's problem encountered. All the staff were friendly and helpful. There was free coffee, tea & hot water at the lobby cafe as well which we liked.

NetherlandsAlthough I didn't encounter problems myself the many bad reviews on Booking and Google had me worried. The room did not have heating but came with a small electric heater, which at least kept us warm. It's a no frills kind of place, chosen because it was close to the location we needed to be at that night.
It's one of those 'I just need a bed to sleep in for a night'. Reasonable price for Rotterdam, but not on the main city center side of the station. The staff was friendly and the 'wheel of fortune' on check-in kind of fun, but it is a bit of a tell-tale sign of the people this hotel targets.

BrazilThe bathroom is too small and doesn't have a door on the shower cubicle. The bathroom get absolutely wet after a shower. Even though there is an elevator, the accessibility to the street is not so good, it could have an access ramp. The corridors on the floors are too narrow. The room has a carpet that gives the impression of dirt. The acoustics is not good, we could hear other guests talking in the adjacent rooms.
They have free coffee and the staff is nice.

FrancePeople were talking until past 11 pm, and during the night there was some movement from time to time, and sometimes lound noise of doors, so I didn't sleep very good. But given I chose the cheapest, I won't complain much. Just know what you wan't, and if you look for the lowest price don't expect the highest comfort.
Super simple check-in, very close to the train station (13' walk), and it was the second cheapest I had found.

SpainAlthough the room (table, bed, bathroom, etc.) was clean, the carpet felt like it needed to be deep-cleaned. We couldn’t hear any noise coming from the street (which is good), however, we could clearly hear people in the hallway from the room, and people in their rooms from the hallway.
Great location, 5-10 minute walk to Rotterdam’s central station. Very friendly and helpful staff, they easily resolved all the (few) problems we had. Comfortable bed and big bathroom. We had an overall good stay.

United KingdomSecure parking. Very friendly welcome by member of staff on reception and equally helpful member of staff the following morning. Very cold night, but an additional heater had been provided in the room. Bars and restaurants nearby, one recommended by reception staff was very good. 15 minutes walk to a main shopping area. NetherlandsThe one assigned in the restaurant for the breakfast was kind of rude maybe she was late in coming in & mixed up the opening time? Receptionist told us it’s open from 7 AM & we were there even past 7 AM except on weekend that it’s open at 8 AM..so the staff said in an arrogant manner come back at 8 AM & I said oh I thought 7 since the receptionist mentioned upon check in that it’s open at 7 AM..so she changed by saying then come back after 10 minutes…& btw she didn’t even said good morning when she saw…which just give the reason that she was just late & had to hurry in preparing the breakfast. The other staffs especially in the reception both assigned in the morning, afternoon & night were all nice & pleasant.. just had the bad experience in the one assigned in the restaurant so I’m sorry for this.
