Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandWe would have liked some games - but there may have been some in the big hall by the office. Otherwise all good
We stayed in the boat - it was a ship really. A great experience for my 2 grandchildren along with my daughter. Our apartment was 3 stories - plenty of room. We loved that we could also feed Joseph the pig with our food scraps

New ZealandLoved the atmosphere , Loved the uniqueness , Great location , quiet , lots of outdoor space , close enough to local attractions , only 15 mins from Otorohanga. Lady in office was lovley and helpful , online help prior to check in, brilliant. Fantastic option for something different for the kids , adds an extra adventure to the holiday. We stayed in the boat, unit 2 (Britanica). Water pressure was great, very warm room (stayed last weekend of March), plug in fans & heaters provided. Kitchen had everything we needed for 1 night away. Fridge is a decent size. The beds though, were the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in. I know beds are very personal preference but even our 4 year old complained. That's the only negative for us. We would stay again, and choose a different unit, in hope the beds are a little more comfortable. Inside of the unit very clean & tidy. Well presented with furniture & decor to suit the theme. Outside of boat is very run down, could do with a decent wash and repaint to really make it welcoming. We reccomend staying here for the experience.

New ZealandThere was a very funky smell. It was a musty damp smell, like the place hadn’t been aired out, after being damp. But leave the door open for as long as you can, it helps.
I stayed in the tail section of the plane, I wanted the cockpit but it was ready occupied, please be aware that the door into the plane is very low, I have to admit, I did hit my head once. The bed was super comfy. Great novelty place to stay.

United KingdomWe stopped on a cool night so didn't need the noisy extraction fans running and had the balcony door open in the afternoon to cool the rooms down. On a warm still night you might need bug repellent to sit outside.
We stopped in room 5, the stern on the ship. It is simple accommodation with all the basics but it's quirkiness is why we booked it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and absorbed in the atmosphere. Would book again. They have internal insect repellent to keep bugs at bay.

Czech RepublicWe stayed in the Olympic unit on the ship, it was fun. The place is quiet, the beds are a little too soft for me. The top floor was squeaky but as we went to bed at the same time no one was disturbed in the bedrooms. I loved the balcony and the misty view in the morning. As we have caves booked for 8:30 am it was perfect for us, will definitely recommend for stay. If possible next time I will book the plane unit :-D.

AustraliaExterior is exceptionally cool, the interior was your basic cheap hotel room so that left a bit to be desired. Overall a nice stay if you're visiting the caves in the area and the nearby huhu restaurant

AustraliaOriginally booked the plane cockpit however it had a very steep ladder to the second bed so owner kindly switched us to the ship. Playing cockpit was small and not to the standard of the ship.

New ZealandIt was an awesome unique spot, lovely and quiet. We stayed in the train, it was much bigger than expected, nice clean and very well set up with everything we needed. Only advice is to remember the room key of your going outside. it's very easy to lock your self out. The staff were awesome and very helpful. Would stay again, but maybe in the plane or boat next time. Only to change it up.

AustraliaNeeded more airing out - it smelt a bit musty. The kitchen is very basic and only has a small freezer...but it had everything we needed. The remote for the TV didn't work...but we were able to operate manually.
Very comfortable stay. It's super clean and very cosy. Great outlook and the surrounding gardens are beautiful. All the different accommodation types are really spread out on the property, so it's very private! Lots of space to spread out. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and had great water pressure and lots of hot water. Super close to Waitomo and we loved staying here!!!

New ZealandSome things needed improvement, like loose door handles, the shower handle was floppy, The front door where we went in needs planing down as it was rubbing, and there were handles that had come off that hadn't been put back on. It would have been cool to be able to open the dining room doors like in the picture.
The boat itself is absolutely awesome the whole park is ureal with a plane you can sleep in and a hobit hole motel
