How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

This is not a five star hotel, it is six. It is very spacious, has superb rooms, swimming pool facilities and service. The breakfast is first rate. It is also quiet. I will be staying again next year.

Nothing other than rain on a couple of days!
Excellent service and food. The room was very spacious and the comfy bed lounger on the balcony was great for relaxing! We stayed half board and the choice of food was very good in the Ria restaurant and Sensai. All in all we had a great stay. Thanks.

Smart and clean with great staff and good breakfast Especially Edgar & Andressa in the Botanics bar. Edgar was very knowledgeable and Andressa was so welcoming

That we would have had to pay €25 an hour for the indoor pool after paying €1700 for the week
The Comcast didn’t work at all. And we would have had to pay extra to use the indoor pool €25 an hour after paying €1700 for the week and the weather wasn’t good so the outdoor pools were very cold.

There was nothing that I disliked about the hotel.
Everything from coming through the front door was absolutely amazing! Nothing short of spectacular. The food and drink were amazing. Value for money for the stay itself as well as the food was excellent. We visited in March which was obviously a bad time of year to visit as the weather in Portugal wouldn't be great meaning the pools etc wouldn't be open but we made up for that by visiting the spa which was a 10/10. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful too.

We had a few difficulties getting from the carpark to the reception, we could not find the lift.
The staff were so welcoming, the room was so comfortable and the breakfast buffet was amazing.

Breakfast is very nice, the "egg station" lady very dedicated, and professional... personnel all very friendly and swift.. the overall rating is in the detail, for example the ceiling in the breakfast room, has been subject of water damage, this should have been repaired in this "low season" other than this perfect stay

Facilities are dated, both old-fashioned and showing signs of wear and tear. Hotel is in need of thorough renovation. We visited during a quiet time in February, and it was a shame at breakfast that some items were cooked early in the morning (e.g. at 7) and then kept warm all morning and therefore not tasty - including pancakes. Would have been significant improvement to make to order.
Staff was very attentive and friendly, both at breakfast and reception. Rooms and facilities clean and spacious. Good selection of food and drinks at breakfast. Gym is very generous and comfortable.

Considering the price of the stay it would be nice if the use of the spa area was included

Minibar prices are way too high as are drink prices at the bar. 20€+ for one drink seems excessive to me.

Everything was excellent, beautiful resort and rooms, beautiful spa , great food all topped off with wonderful service from all staff . Marcia especially at reception was really great , friendly and helpful when we had any questions. Highly recommend!
